If you are more interested in getting a lot of food on your plate at the expense of the quality of the food, this place is for you. The smoked salmon filled the plate, but it lacked quality and flavor. The rack of lamb with herbs the provence, really? rosemary alone does not qualify. The quality of the lamb was... More

I'd advise to keep looking and ignore the ratings on this place. It is cute and generally OK, but the food was just average in a town of above average to outstanding alternatives. The rack of lamb was of poor quality meat compared to other lamb we have had in Paris. The portions were substantial for the prices, but now... More

This restaurant recently went through a renovation, and it is very cute and, of course, in a great location. However, we ended up wondering if they had changed chefs after or during the renovation, as the food was not in line with what we had (mostly) read or expected. Average to blah.....sorry to say.

We went to this amazing restaurant based on two recommendations, one from the hotel staff and one from a shop owner. We did not have reservations but were able to get a table by the window. The service was great and the food could not have been better. I had the beef bourguignon and the pain perdu for dessert....absolutely wonderful!... More

Our meal was amazing from start to finish. We began with escargots, followed by duck for me and beef bourguignon for my husband. Dessert was tarte tatin and creme brûlée. Excellent menu @39euros each. Our server recommended a nice Bordeaux to accompany our meal. Reserved online and confirmed via email upon arrival. Highly recommend - great atmosphere and very friendly... More

The L'Ilot Vache is a tiny, cozy restaurant, with traditional french food. The owners most of time acts as waiters too, and are very patient to explain the details of french cuisine, or to suggest you options if you don't like any ingredient of the plate. My fiancee don't like duck and some other french foods, and the waiter spent... More

I haven't been here for a year and in the intervening time it has been refurbished. Gone are the white tablecloths and traditional 'decent class' restaurant approach and in comes a variety of hard surfaces along more of a bistro line. I think they have also squeezed in a couple of extra seats as there is very little room between... More

We went here for dinner on our last night in Paris. Online it was suggested no reservations were available, but they seated us right away when we stopped by to see if we could still be seated. My husband and I enjoyed an appetizer each, dinner, dessert, and some wine. Everything was very good!

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
