I'lot Vache got everything right...high ceilings, beautiful tables with flowers for drama and privacy, perfect portion size, clever menu but not too clever, sauces you wouldn't make at home, friendly and non-pretentious staff. This restaurant is very well presented and makes the most of its central and corner position on the main road. Our table position was tight but we realigned and enjoyed the chat with the neighbouring diners. Our food arrived via the street window due to lack of room for the servers - we didn't mind that at all. Food was... More

We visited here during a family birthday visit to Rome and I will be back. This is one of my friends favourite restaurants in Paris and I can tell why. There was around 16 of us they were happy to accommodate with choice for everyone and not one of the group was disappointed. From the quality of the service, to... More

Great food and service! Food was beautifully presented and delicious. The ambience is friendly and relaxed. We enjoyed the tall vases of flowers on the tables and the colourful charger plates and varied colours of painted tables. Charming!

Charming restaurant on the I'Ile Saint Louis. Food was wonderful, the wine list was small but well selected, and the service was first rate. It had a certain warmth about it that made you feel welcome.

This restaurant is absolutely beautiful and it is wonderful to walk around the area a little if you are a bit early. The meals were obviously not 'the best in Paris' but had so much character: this mixed with the charm of the restaurant and it's staff made it feel like eating in heaven. The house wine went amazingly with... More

We dined here as a couple on a Sunday night. We had walked past & thought it looked nice but were cautious after reading some of the other reviews. We arrived & the waitress kindly entertained and encouraged our efforts to speak French, even though she spoke perfect English. The menu was 'traditional' with many classic dishes, the food was... We ordered the fixed price three course dinner. It was delicious and the portions were extravagent. My husband and I could have shared one meal. The chocolate mousse and creme brulee desserts were exceptional.

Thanks to previous reviews on Trip Advisor I booked a table at Vache. We weren't disappointed. The service was attentive and friendly, the food was amazing (especially the Creme Brûlée). The set menu was great value (€39 for a 5 course meal) and we decided to walk the 4 miles home to Montmartre to work it off :)

Very attractive looking restaurant, with really nice and friendly service. The food was reasonable without being terrific and for me over-priced. Starters were good (smoked salmon and a meat terrine ) and deserts were fab (the chococlate mousse in particular was delicious) However I was disappointed with the main courses. We ordered two beef dishes and two lamb to be... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
