Very attractive looking restaurant, with really nice and friendly service. The food was reasonable without being terrific and for me over-priced. Starters were good (smoked salmon and a meat terrine ) and deserts were fab (the chococlate mousse in particular was delicious) However I was disappointed with the main courses. We ordered two beef dishes and two lamb to be... More

We stopped in one night to see if they could accept our reservation and they were able to take us within 30 minutes. We ran home and changed into our nicer dresses. The host was exceptionally wonderful and even noticed our change of clothes. The decor was elegant, with very tall flower arrangements and white tablecloths. We ordered Beef Bourguignon... More

Walked in off street by chance to a warm welcome, fantastic traditional food and a very friendly atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

We got caught up with all the sights of Paris. We were headed back to our apartment on the Ilse St. Louis. All the restaurants we closing. We happened by L'llot Vache, they let us in as their last customer of the evening. The staff was warm and welcoming. They worked with us with the little French that we know.... More

I think it's a good sign when half the reservations in this small restaurant appear to be French themselves. Tourists maybe but clearly looking for a traditional meal . We found this by chance rather than checking reviews but felt we had to add our comments. This was excellent, expensive but definitely worth it . Good service and delicious food.... More

We found this gem years ago, upon the recommendation of a flight attendant (always a good idea!). The restaurant is located on the tiny Isle St. Louis, behind Notre Dame. What a charming spot! The island itself is very small and may easily be overlooked. There are some lovely shops and restaurants there and it is known as a great... More

This smaller restaurant has only recently reopened after a large renovation. The food is excellent with a reasonable range of choices. I had the sliced duck and my wife had the chicken. The plating was beautiful as befitted the food. When my wife had a reaction to the lilies prominently displayed, we were afraid we were going to have to... More

Exploring the quiet of Saint-Louis and stumbled upon Vache. We were their first guests for the evening and were welcomed warmly. The atmospher is pleasant with a very large beautiful bouquet of flowers in the center of the restaraunt. Food was very good and the service was attentive. Plan to return on our next trip to Paris in September.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
