Not Excellent

Went there for lunch with the family last week. Having heard so much about this restaurant (No 12 on the worlds top 100) and knowing that they specialize in veggies was pretty excited as we are vegetarians. Must say that most of the courses served were very different and very good too. The flavor... read more

We had visited l’Arpege when our daughter was in Paris during her year abroad studying at the Sorbonne. At that time, it was a high end restaurant serving primarily meats, fish and seafood. We had occasion to be back in Paris this past fall and wanted to revisit this restaurant. Much to our surprise the menu now consists of items... More

We went to Paris just to dine at L'Arpege and we're not disappointed. The staff were all so friendly and service fantastic. We had the full tasting menu and enjoyed every mouthful. Absolutely amazing. I could not fault a thing. Great wine list. The chef owner is very friendly and makes a special effort to talk to everyone and makes... More

After having the Jardinieres tasting menu for lunch, I understand why Alain Passard has held three Michelin stars since 1996. The quality of the ingredients, the presentation of the dishes and the balance of the flavours are superlative. This is outstanding cuisine, that just happens to be vegetarian. The beetroot tartare in particular was very memorable. The service was excellent,... More

My boyfriend and I had the incredible tasting menu. (There are 3 to choose from, we picked the "surprise" daily menu.) My boyfriend is not a vegetarian, and I am. We both specified vegetarian and were extremely happy with the result. I even specified "no egg" and was given tasty alternatives. The dishes were simply beautiful. About 16 courses (I... More

Had a great experience while in Paris. The food was excellent, the way it was displayed was extra ordinary. I had the beetroot tartare that looked exactly like a beef tartare so the food also played mind games with you followed by a lobster dish that was also very good. The wine list is massive and very good. While we... More

Chef Allain Passard is a genius. We had the Tasting Menu (non-vegetarian) and had a meal that excited every taste bud. From the amuse bouche to the "extra" dessert for the special birthday we were celebrating, every course was delicious - some more extraordinary than others, but all good. The combination of textures and flavors were dreamy and the presentation... More

Lunch was a tedious parade of little bland vegetable dishes. Service was slow and distracted. Terribly overrated.

Simply one of the finest dining experiences of our lives. Alain Passard is a true genius. Creating value out of a meal comprised almost entirely of vegetables, at the price l'Arpege charges, is truly a challenge, and we felt that it was an incredible value. Normally, in reviews of restaurants like this, the reviewer feels it necessary to give his/her... More
