Not as superb as we hoped

The first impression was wonderful: we were welcomed by none other than the wonderful Alain Passard in person. To his credit, M.Passard spent the entire evening in the restaurant, working the tables and discreetly instructing the large wait staff. We went for the standard dinner menu... read more

One of the best meals I have had in my life. The food was absolutely amazing. Every course was made with fresh vegetables. They even bring out some of the vegetables used in the courses and place them on your table. The atmosphere was lovely. There is limited seating in the restaurant which creates a cozy atmosphere for the diners.... More

Fabulous experience a bit off the beaten path. Chef Alain was omnipresent and gregarious creating a warm, family feeling in haute cuisine. Sommelier was all business but the wine pairings were right on point with every course. Most courses vegetables, with one fish and one (wonderful) roasted duck/chicken. Finesse. This review cannot adequately describe the plates, but suffice to say... More

Michelin Three-Starred restaurant L’Arpege, Alain Passard in Paris. Its simple yet so delicate and elegant. Like a movement of a bach suite. Single note but its complex yet tasteful and one of its kind. Alain Passard has his own farm to grow the vegetable to its ultimate raw form. Flavor coming from a single leaf of green is more than... The first impression was wonderful: we were welcomed by none other than the wonderful Alain Passard in person. To his credit, M.Passard spent the entire evening in the restaurant, working the tables and discreetly instructing the large wait staff. We went for the standard dinner menu: approximately 12 (mostly very small) courses, all very creative and tasty, and mostly vegetarian,... More

It's amazing that Arpege gets so many bad reviews on here. But if you read them you should not be surprised. A lot of ignorant rich people go to three stars just for snob value and then complain if there's no chandeliers and fawning old shufflers in uniform. And also it's well known that Arpege majors on vegetables. So don't... More

I have eaten at many top restaurants and this certainly deserves it's 3*s. Incredible creative and tasty food. Don't be put off that much of the menu involves many vegetables dishes - you will never know it and I am definitely not a vegetarian.. The downstairs is pretty and no difference than the upstairs (some actual prefer downstairs as it... More

If heaven has restaurants like this and good golf courses, I promise to try much harder to get there. I've eaten in lots of great restaurants over the years, but this is in the top 2-3. While you only order three things--appetizer, main meal and dessert, you get 10 courses. I should have guessed this. I ate way too much... More

We are foodies from Asia and always wanted to try this renowned restaurant. Little did we know this dining experience would unfold disastrously. The hostess brought us to the basement to our table. Realized immediately that ALL the Asians would be seated in the basement. The Caucasian customers were all seated on the ground level. Asked the hostess and she... More

I went to l'Arpege several years ago and thought it was one of the best meals of my life. I was a little worried about going back and having expectations that were too high. Nope, they completely delivered! We ordered the chef's choice lunch menu, which is 140 euro a person, and they just bring you what they want. Including... More

We had visited l’Arpege when our daughter was in Paris during her year abroad studying at the Sorbonne. At that time, it was a high end restaurant serving primarily meats, fish and seafood. We had occasion to be back in Paris this past fall and wanted to revisit this restaurant. Much to our surprise the menu now consists of items... More
