A wonderful dining experience in Paris. Josephine "chez do monte" has wonderful food. The service was impeccable and they aim to please. Once we sat down they gave us wine and a small soup dish. We ordered a Demi (half portion) beef bourguignon. Wow.....so tasty and so tender! Delicious! Also we had a Neapolitan dessert that was to die for.... More

It is pretty average but the service is better than average for Paris. Food was good, but not what I expected. The service, however, was really outstanding; prompt, responsive and they even gave us an apperitif on the house!

This is a fine, authentic place. The staff were pleasant and generous. Every dish brought to the table delicious. Every plate passing on its way to another table envied. The sweet soufflé pudding was very special. Go and I think you'll leave happy.

Restaurant Josephine Chez Dumonet is a treasure. My wife and daughter each ordered the demi (1/2 size) Boeuf Bourguignon (20 Euros), which were very generous servings. I had the Confit de Canard (duck, 24 Euros), also excellent. We shared a half bottle of wine - Chateau Mac Carthy Saint-Estephe (36 Euros), which was very good. Here's the trick: order the... More

This is a classic example of how front-of-house staff can let down a good kitchen, because despite the very good food we would not return. I am a restaurateur and have a sign on the back of the still room door (leading into the restaurant) that says, '80% of the taste of the food is in the service'. The two... More

It has been 18 years since we began going to the wonderful bistro. So many of the same staff. Great bistro menu, half portions if you desire. Fabulous warm artichoke salad, smoked salmon, herring, salad with walnuts and Gorgonzola . Incredible beef bourgignon, beef tartare prepared at your table, duck confit, fresh fish...the list goes on. The desserts you must... More

Tried this place on recommendation of a relative, a regular in Paris. I had not read much about it from the usual channels. I was not disappointed! On a week long vacation to Paris, trying some of the most reviewed and hyped restaurants, this was probably the best meal of the trip. The duck confit and and beef bourguignon were... More

Arrived late into Paris St Germain. Had booked for 9.30. Most customers were French. No tourists Wonderful French decor very good service. Complimentary house wine. Nice touch No starter but an amuse bouchée of puréed vegetable soup. Confit du canard with garlic roasted potatoes and fresh salad. Traditional French cooking at its best, eased down with a crisp Sancerre Mille... More

Saw this place recommended in a travel magazine and it did not disappoint! I especially enjoyed that they bring you a free glass of wine as soon as you walk in. Also liked that many entrees were available in half portions so it was not too much food.

I can understand why the guy who gave his worst review ever might do so. To the average punter (and I include us in this category) this can seem an intimidating restaurant. The full portions may look expensive but the portions are huge. A demi portion is perfectly adequate and good value. The wine list at first glance does seem to... More
