Genuine Parisian bistro

I went to Chez Toinette with my friend who is Parisian born and bred and very hard to please! A colleague at work had recommended the restaurant for some typical Parisian food and it certainly didn't disappoint. Good little quaint bistro at the foot of Sacre Coeur. Reservations a must. Its not 'haute cuisine' at many of these top trip advisor rated places, but there again, you aren't paying $200 a person either. My wife said best snails ever (yeuch). My foie gras and margret de canard were good. Summary - good solid french food, worth the... More

Would recommend booking as this is a small restaurant and seems to be quite popular. Nice restaurant and we were not disappointed, very friendly service, selective menu choice. Food was very good and presented well. The 2 guys that run this restaurant are great hosts and added to the experience, even if they forgot to bring our wine twice.

All you can expect from a real Parisian bistrot. Only 9 tables in a typical Pigalle neighborhood street. Cozy, casual, outstanding traditional French cuisine, great selection of wines and above all, unusually friendly staff. Don't miss it in your next visit to Paris.

We booked Chez Toinette on the advice of a friend who had been their recently. They couldn't have been more right! The owner was lovely; when we arrived at 8.30pm without a reservation, he was able to seat us at 9.30, and recommend some nice bars to go to beforehand. When we arrived back at 9.25, the table was still... More

A year after my last visit, I had the absolute pleasure of dining here again. This time I was with three friends and they all agreed with me about just how great this place is. I was tempted to repeat my meal from last year as it was so good (the duck preceded by the eggs en cocotte), but I... More

Chez Toinette is in a rather drab sidestreet of the truly seedy Bd du Clichy and the exterior gives little clue to the quality of the restaurant. But be assured this is a great place to eat if you're in the 18th. We were lucky to get in - we got there soon after it opened at 7, and by... More

We were recommended this restaurant by the hotel and i was a little unsure because i like to see a menu before i go, just to double check i like something and to know what to expect. We walked from the hotel to the restaurant about a 15 min walk with some steep streets (it is near sacre coeur )... More

When we walked through the curtain the restaurant looked less than great but the staff were friendly and then the food arrived and oh what a treat , the food was some of the best I have eaten!!!. My one advice is if you are a group of women or single woman traveller go for the early sitting as the... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
