Perfect location for a fabulous steak

I went here on a Sunday (it was my second time this year). It was a last minute decision at the end of a beautiful day and it was packed, but the staff smilingly found us a table downstairs. The downstairs doesn't quite have the ambiance of upstairs, maybe, but it does have a bar, with people sat... read more

If you feel like a steak and potatoes, this is the place. They pretty much only do beef and potatoes but they do it exceptionally well. We went here twice and loved the food and atmosphere both times. We were seated up stairs right near the fire the first time and loved watching the chef cook our steak over the... More

The scarcity of reviewers from Paris should have been a warning. I really cannot understand the plaudits for this tourist trap. Beware of the boss, ensconsed at the corner of the bar as you enter. Cross him at your peril. My mistake was to arrive a little early, hoping for a drink while waiting for my friends. Luckily a helpful... More

We had been wanting to visit this restaurant for months, and so were thrilled when we managed to get in without booking. Really wish we hadn't now. We had entrecôte, with potatoes and salad. The meat had absolutely no flavour, and was extremely fatty and unpleasant. The potatoes were similarly unappetising. After we had eaten what we could, there was... More

You don't want to sit downstairs. We were seated downstairs by the restroom at a table with 3 solemn folks and immediately asked to sit at the bar instead. The staff was happy to move us. We had a great evening- drank wine, met people from Chicago and laughed a lot. But, the salad was nothing to write about, the... More

This little restaurant is hidden away down a Parisien street, the front looks like someone's house, all resplendent in gingham curtains and a pretty front door. Inside is the most fantastic place - a small bar, wooden tables and chairs and a huge open fire where they cook you the best steak in the world! The speciality is just steak... More

Got to know this place from Anthony Bourdain's Paris episode. Curious and excited we reserved a table and for my birthday. The medium rare ribs we had came as we asked. It was juicy and succulent. Nothing special about the salad on the side. A bit 'annoying at the same time amusing' was the rose vendor who insisted to sell... More

We would never had found this restaurant had it not been for TripAdvisor. Although it is in a touristy part of Paris, not far from the Place de Voges, it is located in a side street and could easily be overlooked. We liked it straight away. It looks ‘French’. It has a pleasant ambience. The walls are covered in old... More

Looked so little and quaint. Very old Parisian. What a lovely review in Hungry for Paris! And us in the Marais, only a few blocks away. What a disappointment to find out there's a downstairs and be seated downstairs facing the kitchen entrance and bathrooms, passing those sizzling steaks and all the ambience on the way down. Hungry for Paris stated... More

I have no idea on whether this was good value or not as I was on a business dinner and someone else was paying but the steak was sensational, among the best I've ever eaten. Six of us ate at a round table in the basement where my initial feeling was that it was too hot and claustrophobic but this... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
