Always a good choice, witty service, excellent food, lively atmosphere. Try their Steak Tartare, it is pretty amazing!

I love "Chez Paul" or at least I used to love "Chez Paul". I have been going there for years and it always has been good. Great vibe, great rooms (espeically upstairs) and usually nice waiters. However, I went this week end and the food wasn't as good as it used to be. The entrecote was really thin and very... More

Eating at CHEZ PAUL 21 sept. was disappointing. We were a group of 40 pepole from Iceland and had a hall in the attic which was both tight and hot. The food was reasonable, the same for everyone, but still took a long time to serve. If you complaind about something workers received very poor services. When I got what... More

Quite a disappointment. The three dishes we ordered (beef tartar, sardine, lapin) ranged from the bland (lapin) to the inedible (tartar). Service is pretty bad, with waitresses looking tired, stressed and disgruntled to see you come in. Although the settings are quite cozy and interesting, the entire place is just plain dirty. The cherry of the cake was a little... More

This is indeed an old-school French bistro. The menus are yellowed, which means that they are not changed often, if at all. The essential items are offered, with an emphasis on beef. The staff are helpful enough, not speaking much English, which is not problematic because we understood each other. I recommend that you all find this little restaurant, which... More

Chez Paul was our first restaurant after arriving in Paris recently. I had looked for someplace special as this was both our anniversary and we were having a very good friend join us. On arrival we found a the restaurant nearly empty. This was my first clue the quality was not what the publicity claimed. Staff was aloof and a... More

Yummy! We had the mandatory escargots, the pepper steak and the duck. Amazing! Besides it was jolly and loud and a perfect welcome to Paris!;-)

Eating at Chez Paul in the Bastille area has become a ritual for me every time I visit Paris. I at here more than 19 years ago and mutiple times since and I dont think much has changed which is a good thing. The staff are jovial and disarming in that all knowing french way. The ambience is very parisienne... More

We almost always have wonderful meals in Paris. In fact, it's hard to go wrong. Unless you go to Chez Paul - a terrible exception. A huge chunk of tough, unseasoned, nearly raw lamb served with NO panache. And not cheap either! DId the restaurant care? No, they are busy resting on their laurels. Stay away. You would do better... Of course we care about our clients' opinion and we are really sad to read your comment. We always want to make discover our traditional food to foreigners who, most of the time, appreciate it. We let you know that we forward these details to our team to find out what could have happened. We are really sorry about that... More

Worst meal we've ever had in France and that's a lot of meals. The onion soup was passable but ordinary. My wife and I decided on a dish for two: Noix d’agneau fondante piquée à l'ail, ratatouille et champignons farcis (lamb with garlic, stuffed mushrooms, and easy-to-use). In an amazingly short time a large plate of mostly uncooked tough and... More
