A really excellent meal and service at Chartier. Lovely food, wine and service. They were really accommodating with a wheelchair bound mother and a pushchair 8 month old baby Thank you - will return!!

Go early (around 6pm), otherwise you will have to wait in the queue. Traditional french food with good price. But not really a place to have a relaxed dinner. The impression I got is that the waiters want you to finish your dinner fast so other people can come in.

Try to imagine a Paris restaurant in the late 19thC, and you will probably have a picture exactly as Bouillon Chartier. Purpose built at this time, it has everything - bustling, atmosphere, globe lighting, high ceilings, oak panelling - go with someone in a top hat and a long dress and you could really believe you had travelled back in... This restaurant is an adventure. Come here for true bistrot experience, from busy waiters who write on your tablecloth to red Vichy paper menus to spotting the old chap in a beret fiddling with his spectacles to read through his mail at the table for one. The food is straight forward and honest, nothing special, unlike the place itself, which... More

If you are looking for a fun Parisian dining experience, this place is worth checking out. The prices are more than reasonable and the atmosphere is great. This is one of the oldest and most popular restaurants in Paris, so get there before 7 or expect to wait in line. The later you go, the longer the line. We ordered... More

I had a great experience here in April 2004 and looked forward to a similar experience in 2014. In 2004 I was with a group of 5 friends. We were seated within 15 minutes and all thought the food was good especially for the price, and the ambiance was great even with a waiter who was overly busy. Two of... More

Just eaten here with my 2 children. For sure, it's quirky. But we were rushed through our food and rudely asked by the waiter, Frank, to leave as they neeed the table. We were still finishing our meal. I complained to the boss and was told to write a letter of complaint. Since they did not deal with the complaint... More

Recommended for dog food aficionados only Last week, we, me and my wife, had a unique experience; Lunch at Chartier Restaurant Paris. When we arrived (15.00) the restaurant was 30% full but the waiter tried to makes us share a table with another couple, in order to keep all his tables as close as possible, and to avoid a few... Fatty beef Bourgignon was served with slimy macaroni. Couldn't wait to get out of the place. Might have been cheap but we had to go and pay for another dinner elsewhere. Also in daylight, not very clean.
