We went there for the food, but surprisingly found it simple enough. Not bad for the quality/price value. The wine (bottle of 12 euro) was great. Recommend for experience and not for the food.

Been there about 12 times over recent years. The architecture is stunning and the decor takes you back in time to the turn of the century. The waiters look and act like they should do; but don't let them intimidate you. Speak as much French as you can with them. Don't have high expectations about the food, which is simple... More

Don't expect the best food in Paris, and the place is packed after about 7 so be prepared to queue, and possibly share a table, however...... Very atmospheric Good value As of today (Oct 2014) the red wine at E12 was extremely drinkable. I've been here each time I've visited Paris (three times in about 10 years) and each time... More

20 minutes waiting before entrance. Big Ventilators under the ceiling caused a very uncomfortable "steam". Foie gras was cheap (€ 7,50), tasty an a decent portion. Faux Filet was uneatable: hard meat and cold fries. Never before -and hopefully never again - I hat such a bad food in Paris.

What kind of simpleton goes to these places? I was dragged along by some work friends, and to be honest it was the worst meal I had in Paris over the fortnight I was there. If I had of waited in line to eat there I'd be seriously upset. Full of tourists taking pictures of something, anything, nothing in particular.... More

I will start by saying I love Chartier. Having said that I understand the less flattering reviews. It is not known for great food. It is traditional French food like a French grandma would make. However you can get a great meal here if you choose wisely. I love, love the duck conflit. It is at this restaurant on my... More

This is not a Michelin starred restaurant (as many of the bad reviewers here seemed to be expecting) but is still very much worth going to. Go here for the uniquely French atmosphere and the experience, and not only for the food, and you would not be disappointed. A French friend described this restaurant to me as a working class... We had read great views of this restaurant and one article said it was the best 'low' price restaurant in Paris and so we lined up with many others for nearly an hour and were very disappointed. The restaurant is quite impressive and their is a great buzz but the food was very disappointing - all 3 courses. We spent... More

Gorgeous little gem that time seems to have forgot. The restaurant is tucked away off the street and it feels like you have walked into a 1900 bistro. Chartier is a uniquely Parisian experience. The food itself is very average but the prices, by Paris standards, are eyepoppingly low. French friends had sung its praises and we were glad to... More

This is a lovely cute restaurant with a very French atmosphere. The decor is amazing and adds to the experience. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. Service was quick and could've been friendlier but the tasty food is worth it.
