On a window-shopping stroll down Rue des Francs-Bourgeois, luchtime rumblings caught up to us outside this typical-looking French bistro, on the corner at Elzévir. With Parisian dishes like pot-au-feu and escargots bourgogne on the menu, we figured this would be an average, acceptable place to eat. Or so we thought. The chalkboard has some dozen or so appetizers and another... More

It came on to rain whilst walking the streets around the Marais. It was late lunchtime and we made for the nearest eatery. It turned in to delightful very French dining experience. Great service with a large choice of traditional French cuisine. The food was cooked expertly to order, the calves liver being really outstanding. We will dine there again.... More

A friend chose this restaurant and I was pleased by his choice. Typical French bistro. We were a bit early by Paris standards - 1930 - and it quickly filled up. I ordered a filet mignon and was very happy with it. I have a number of friends who say they do not like French beef. What do I know... More

After a day of museums at the Marais district, a nice early dinner at Camille: Salad Landaise (duct breast & bacon, delicious), Steak Entrecote & Frites, Dry Lyon Sausage & warm potato. All very good and staff very friendly & helpful.

Walking along the rue des Francs Bourgeois after a day of pounding the Paris streets looking for that most-charming of items to bring home, you realize: "I don't know why, but I need a delicious pot-au-feu right now". Voilá -- Camille ! A quintessential Parisian bistro without all the frills, Camille promises a lovely lunch/dinner with traditional entrées (the charcuterie,... More

I choose this restaurant on sunday evening when a lot of restaurant in PAris are closed. Thius restaurant is a typical brasserie and even if it is in a tourist area, i must say that the quality is good, The menu is typical french and the tartare i got was very good. The service was good and the price was... More

The worst entrecote we ever have been served in a restaurant. Extremly hard to cut, impossible to chew. The free dessert offered did not compensate the bad experience

From the outside this looks like a nice bistro, and the location and decor is good. However the food was really just so-so. We had Steak Frites and Coquille St. Jacques as mains, which were both really bland and full of oil. The steak was tough and overcooked. The prices were also relatively high for this area. It's not a... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
