Chaotic but essentially good if expensive

Booked for the wonderfully pretty main dining area for lunch for 6 and had even confirmed the day before - but just as we arrived exactly on time, they gave the table away to a couple who were obviously friends of the Maitre d'. Putting two onto a table set for six is crazy in such a busy place... read more

Wish we could comment on the foold and the service, but we never got that far. We made a reservation online, which they confirmed. Then, two days in advance we received an email that the reservation had been cancelled. No explanation. We wrote asking for an explanation. No response. You have a choice when dining out in Paris. Choose somewhere that... More

Visited Paris in April for our silver wedding anniversary. We were recommended this restsurant and booked before we got to Paris. The food, service atmosphere and decor were all exceptional. It is an expensive meal out but for an evening experience with wonderful food and wine beautifully presented, well worth every penny. Hope we get the opportunity to return to... More

We were served a lukewarm meat course which was taken back and reheated! The plate came back exactly as we had left it! The service varied and we noticed that a young Asian couple were completely ignored for about 30 minutes, they left without being able to order! A disappointment all round!

This is a traditional French brasserie. I went out of my comfort zone and I loved it. Started off trying foie de gras (with pinot noir jelly) for the first time. From there I had the grilled salmon, which I also liked even though I'm not a seafood lover. When the chocolate puff pastry arrived, I was already stuffed.

Wonderful traditional rooms and I am guessing good chefs but I couldn't be sure. We were rather neglected for 20 minutes while the waiter fawned over a French couple who came in following us and who were starting on their main course while we still waited for bread. The food eventually arrived and my wife's expensive entrecôte and fries was... More

We arrived at this well known French brasserie near the Bastille with high expectations. We were seated in Belle Epoque glassed dining room which sparkles and is very impressive and has kept this restaurant in business for 125 years. The menu is quite large, and you need to choose carefully. First, after being seated at an excellent corner table, we... More

This brasserie is very traditional in Paris. It is located close to the Bastille and Voges square, It has been a place where many artists, politicians, fashion icons and others meet in Paris. François Mitrerrand celebrated there his election for president, says the history of the place. I don´t know about their past, but their present is quite enjoyable. I... More

We reserved the Bofinger on line and were first offered an upstairs table. We asked to be seated downstairs and we were glad we did. It was a much more authentic local experience. Lovely room, traditional service. The food was very good for a "brasserie" type establishment. The portions are surprisingly large so order accordingly. A charcuterie can feed 2... More

I've eaten at Le Bofinger a couple of times before and it's always been a delightful experience, as much for the atmosphere and authenticity of the building and decor as much as for the food. This time I took my daughter. I booked online and had requested a table under the glass dome on Saturday at 8pm. We had a... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
