You want to discover the real traditionnal french food ? Welcome to "La Bourse ou La Vie", with your host Patrice, a boss with a strong personality. Foie gras, duck confit, kidneys, always accompanied by traditional wines exclusively from owners, for a festival of tastes. The atmosphere is warm, even ultra casual. There's no rules, no fuss and in the background old French songs that reinforce the "old France" nature of the appointment of French gastronomy. Good humor and fun guaranteed.

It's ok

Decided to follow one of the Trip Advisor itineraries called Foodie Tour West and ate at this place i certainly wouldn't put it on a foodie tour. Granted the pepper sauce on the steak is delicious , the fries were described as life changing - mine were reheated and quite ordinary. Quite expensive... read more

some friends visiting Paris asked me if we could have dinner at La Bourse ou La Vie. I tried quite a few times calling to make a reservation, and ended up with an answering machine, where a voice said the retaurant was now open 7 dfays a week for both lunch and dinner. After a lot of unsuccesful attemps, I... More

We followed a review from a website. Went there at 7 pm but they opened at 8. we ordered steaks and frites. It was very chewy and sticky as a bad piece of meat could be. The sauce was just okay so we finished the fries ...dipped in the sauce. The staff (not sure if he is the owner) was... More

How the usually reliable Alec Lobrano could say this restaurant has "the best steak frites in Paris" is really beyond me. This was by far our worst restaurant experience during our week in Paris. The decor is dreadful and the service was so indifferent as to not even rise to the level of surly. We purchased a $50 bottle of... More

This is a very average steak joint with very average steak-frites. The steak would be very poor if it were not for the sauce. Alec Lobrano and David Lebovitz's review of this restaurant is unjustified.

Dined here a few days ago to celebrate a friend's birthday. Having read from a few sites that this was one of the best steak au poivre, my expectations were high. The steak was good, but not good enough to justify the price. The killer, was that served along with were fries that you could get at your corner kebab... More

I visited this restaurant with a group of female friends for a 30th birthday in February- extremely cold! I booked a table for Saturday night at 8pm after hearing about the steak from a website. I can only assume that the website review was written by the chef. We arrived to no welcome, except a grunting waiter. The waiter and... More

Visited the first time in Dec 2011 & wanted to go back. On the pricey side but it is great steak frites and the sauce is so amazing!

We chose this restaurant based on previous reviews and the need for steak. Last night we ate at a posh, well known place overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Tonight we wanted some proper, filling food and we were not disappointed. As other reviewers have suggested, we walked straight past the door and to the end of the street, even though we... More

Found this restaurant in our travel guide to Paris and it did not disappoint. The food was amazing, but there was a challenge ordering with the language barrier. We both ordered a steak and fries and they were fantastic. The place is very small and seems like a haunt for locals which we enjoyed. Definitely a must try in Paris... More

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
