Not bad

A decent place, convenient and well waited. Nothing amazing but certainly not a place to avoid. Outside seating is nice

We visited on the last night of our trip tonight, amazing little jazz band, absolutely stunning food cooked beautifully and arriving promptly at a fraction of inner city price and a truly beautiful atmosphere. Was not expecting a great deal for the reasonable price but was massively surprised. Will without a doubt return again when I come back to beautiful... More

Don't come here for the food or service or whatever. Come here for the relaxed atmosphere when a jazz combo is playing and you can sit a eat something basic with a glass of wine. If your looking for something more fancy look elsewhere- but quality music in paris is pretty cool in itself

We had eaten here before and enjoyed it but on this occasion we just stopped by for drinks and sat outside to watch the world go by. Two expresso cost €4.40.

I went here with friends for a quick lunch. Orders taken, food delivered to tables by not so friendly waiter. We all had Croque Madame and a glass of wine. The croque madames were delicious. We enjoyed watching the passing parade of people, very enjoyable.

We were very disappointed with our dinner here. The waiters were rude, leaving us halfway through the order because we were indecisive. I asked if the fried eggs could be replaced with poached eggs (elsewhere on the menu), but not possible. The food was average at best. The atmosphere non existent. My glass of wine never came.

No culinary destination, Le Saint Jean is one of the best places on rue Abbessess to sit outside and watch the people with a glass of wine (carafe is recommended) or black coffee. You can sneak in a croissant from across the street...

We had coffee this morning and they charged us €10 for 2 coffees!! We had coffee earlier at one of the other places in the street and we paid €5 for 2 coffees!! We thought they made a mistake, but no, it was the normal price. Big rip off! And we liked the earlier coffee better!! The location is excellent,... More

We visited this cafe twice when we stayed in Montmartre in December 2014. We found the staff to be welcoming and helpful despite our minimal French language. The food we had was tasty and nourishing and not expensive. We loved watching the comings and goings on Rue Abbesses - seeing every day Parisian life - kids going to school ,... More

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
