A warning to ducks...

A fantastic find down a side street in a pleasant part of Paris. I had been given a tip-off to try here and I was not disappointed. It's quite small, and by the time I left it was full and vibrant - just as a Parisian bistro should be. They operate a 2 or 3 course Prix Fixe, with supplements... read more

Had a perfect dinner in paris with our 2 teenage daughters. My husband loved the duck confit. Everything we ate was superb and service was perfection. We stumbled upon the restaurant and were the first ones seated for the evening. It was fun to watch the restaurant fill up on a Saturday night with tourists and locals. We are foodies... More

We had a great dinner here during our trip to Paris! I had the duck confit and my boyfriend had chicken with risotto. Both of us loved our dish. The portion was very generous, which was why we sadly couldn't take desserts afterwards. Very reasonable prices as well. It was around €55 for both of use including two entrees and... More

The server was very kind in explaining the French menu to us and recommending wine and food. I ordered the scallops which we watched the chef ...shuck? and grill. The table next to us had slabs of meat brought out for examination before cooking. It was all delicious and quick the experience. Love it!

We found this place by chance. It was near our hotel at Montparnesse. The friendly waitresses, Charlene and Delphine, explained the french menu in english. They gave us very good recommendations. It was one of the best dinners we had in Paris and it did not break our wallet.

This is a busy bistrot on a side alley between Raspail and Rue de Montparnasse. Make a reservation because it is very busy and is small. But the food is amazing, the atmosphere is warm and the customers are locals. Several staff speak English and are patient with tourists. The first bistrot on our list when we return to Paris.

Super cosy and friendly find amongst some posher restos. Very reasonably priced, great service. I live here, my parents did not speak a word of French but felt fully welcome in this little homey and bustling gem. Perfect for a Friday evening with friends/family, lovely, unpretentious French food and nice selection of wine. Will go back!

We discovered this place after a walk in the Luxembourg gardens. Charming, modest little bistro seemed to be the perfect place for our lunch. But the food was just superb. All of the amazing food memories have taken us back there two more times. (Well we would like to go to many more times but they were closed on Sundays... More

We stopped in for dinner on our second night in Paris and had a wonderful meal with delicious wine. The service was great, and it felt like a very authentic Parisian experience (as in, we were the only non-French speaking patrons).

We chose our hotel (Le Chaplain Rive Gauche) because of the many small bistro(t)s in the area. For our first night in Paris, we asked our receptionist to make a reservation for us at Bistrot de Campagnes, which was very close. The reviews on Trip Advisor suggested that this was just what we were looking for. This was the first... More

Staying in Montparnasse

Neighborhood Profile
Montparnasse
The namesake tower of Montparnasse dominates over the landscape but the fun part is the throbbing life that goes on below it. Bright lights, busy cinemas, brasseries and diners encompass hidden museums and parks to entertain the masses. Long avenues lead away from the tower to take you to unsuspecting places and historical monuments and treasures. In between lie adorable ivy-covered houses with beams and small gardens to match. Just a short metro ride away from the center of Paris this neighborhood has something for every hour of the day.
