A tasty and friendly dining experience

We had lunch here after we checked out of our apartment. The staff stored our luggage for 4 people inside the bar. We had a very tasty lunch outside. When we had finished they called a taxi for us and helped carry our bags. A very friendly and tasty french experience.

We chose the little restaurant from others around it because the menu seemed more 'French'. We made a great choice. What I love with French cuisine is what I think I've ordered looks nothing like expected and tastes so much better! My baked goats tart, lemon veal and creme brûlée were just yummy and all emerging from the tiniest kitchen... More

On a rainy Saturday, my husband and I were looking for a restaurant no longer open, and found this gem. We sat "outside" with heaters, and had a lovely 3 course lunch, lovingly and expertly prepared by the chef, who I got to greet when I used the restroom. He was delighted that we loved our meal. A very good... More

Having read a really negative review - in Italian - I simply had to have another go! We stay in Paris twice every year and - apart from Monday and Tuesday - when the BDJ is closed, we eat there exclusively. We often visit for coffee during the day and are impressed by the patience of the hard- working staff... More

Based on the reviews seen here we went to this restaurant. It was reasonably priced and the food was very good. The service was great, friendly, gracious, etc. I had snails and they were excellent. We tried another restaurant around the corner another night and the food was not nearly as good, especially not the snails, and the service was... More

We enjoyed their prix fixe menu which was very reasonably priced. One of the appetizer choices was onion soup. Was rich with cheese, onions and bread; one of the best onion soups I've ever had. The main course and dessert were also excellent. Nice location in the Marais not far off Rue de Rivoli on a street with a number... More

We love the Bar de Jarente. The atmosphere is welcoming and informal, and the food is excellent and reasonably priced. We eat here every night. Only problem is that they close on Monday and Tuesday! Great too that our hotel is right next door. We found the easiest way to reach this area from the airport is to take the... More

Petit old bar in le Marais, wonderful place for a Martini Blanc or a pastis. Was first charmed by the old couple who owned it for over fifty years back in '95 or so. New owners, but still a great find.

We discovered the Bar de Jarente around four years ago, after staying next door over the past twelve years. Can't think why it took us so long. Perhaps the lovely waiter outside persuaded us. Amazing discovery. Wonderful, affordable menu. Staff soon become friends, and the atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming. We will be in Paris for Christmas, and look forward... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
