POSITIVE: -Exhaustive menu of french cuisine. -Taste not bad. -Interior design feels somehow "parisian". NEGATIVE: -With such an exhaustive menu you can doubt that everything is homemade, like for most restaurants in this touristic area. -I'm used to french restaurants and this one truly doesn't deserve its rating on Tripadvisor. This restaurant will fool most American tourists, but not the... More

After having a few hit and miss dining experiences in the Latin quarter it was a relief to find a gem in La Maison de Verlaine. The restaurant was romantic and cosy and had the look and feel of what I thought a traditional Parisian restaurant should be; apart from the odd London road name sign here and there! The... More

This restaurant is in the building where Hemingway lived for 2.5 years in Paris. One can only assume he ate there as it's been around for a long time. We didn't have reservations but i recommend them as it was crowded. Since we came late (10pm) some folks were clearing out and that's how we got our table. The decor... More

We've had a couple of disappointing dining experiences in Paris, so it was good to find such a satisfying restaurant so close to our apartment. The French poet Paul Verlaine apparently lived (and died in 1896) in the building which houses La Maison and it retains a sense of this history within it's walls. The tables are dressed traditionally (as... More

Highly recommended restaurant in the Latin Quarter. We have ordered menus with fois gras, beef, shrims and everything was excellent. The service is real nice and the wines are great (our choice - Madiran, Chateau Piarrine). In the evening you need a reservation (it opens at 19:00 in July) otherwise you'll find it fully booked. Definitely a must try.

We walked past this place looking for a place to have dinner - so we decided to give it a go. The place is rather small but that makes it even better & cosy. The staff here did a great job and they all were very friendly. As it has been a few months ago now I can't really remember... More

We just stumbled over this restaurant, so had no preconceptions of what to expect, other than the restaurant is beautiful. Cannot speak highly enough of the service....it was perfect. The food courses were all excellent, but we thought the French Onion soup was outstanding. All in all a great experience....and we will return

We were planning to host a lunch for our friends who made the trip from Lille to see us. We are staying in the 5th and I spent hours on Tripadvisor looking for a good restaurant near our apartment. Finally I settled on La Maison de Verlaine, because of the fabulous reviews. Our food ranged from okay to good, but... More

My fiance and i went there on our last night in paris.. we were lucky to get a table without a reservation and were very grateful. The food was very good and very well assembled, the staff was very curtious and attentive, and the overall experience was quite splendidly french. We'll be back next time around..

My girlfriend and I recently spent 4 nights in Paris. After reading the excellent trip advisor reviews we decided to visit this restaurant on our second night. On arrival we instantly fell in love with the authentic vibe of the place. The standard of food was incredible and the price was very reasonable. I would have been willing to pay... More
