Friendly and excellent French cuisine

Had escargots, canard and profiteroles. All were outstanding and went very well with a nice Bourgogne wine.

I keep returning here time and again, as the food served is superb and the best value for money in Paris! Add to that a friendly staff who pride themselves in making your visit enjoyable. I recently took a Parisian to lunch at La Maison de Verlaine and she returned for dinner a few days later with her Parisian friend.

This is what we came for Paris for. A romantic dinner at a reasonable price. The service was excellent and the staff attentive. The seafood dishes were great and the duck magret was cooked to perfection. Only the dessert -- tarte tatin -- was over garnished with some kind of red syrup and would have been better naked. That said,... More

I had read very good reviews about this little restaurant and my expectations were fully met. Decorated with gusto, it had excellent dishes at reasonable prices. I tried the onion soup, duck and for dessert creme brulee. All were exceptional. The staff were very helpful and attentive. All in all, an unforgettable experience. As an added bonus for Greek travelers,... More

So much character and taste put in to both interior and exterior, excellent food and service. Overall one of the best top spots in Paris but book in advance!

Went here based on TripAdvisor comments and it was all good. Tucked away from the hustle & bustle of Paris with an extensive menu & attentive staff. Good food done well. Pricing is also very good for the quality of food offered.

This restaurant was amazing. The atmosphere, food, wine and service were all exceptional. We opted for the prefix menu and the quality of the food for the price was unbeatable. The servers are so very nice also. We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we went back a second night which we don't normally do when we travel. The second... More

La Maison de Verlaine is a very nice restaurant that we found on a side street, down a bit from a very busy bar/restaurant area. There is a plaque: "Ernest Hemingway Lived in the Building from 1921 to 1925." And, a famous French poet, Paul Verlaine, died in this building in 1896. Of course, this has nothing to do with... We decided to go to this restaurant because of the good reviews and it was walking distance from where we were staying. It was really good. We had great service and great food. Everything was delicious. I ordered the set menu that comes with a glass of champagne and coffee at the end. All good. I actually choose for a... More

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighborhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendor and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighborhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
