Nice neighbourhood restaurant with GREAT duck confit

This was a nice, quietish little place near our accommodations. It was a little neighbourhood place and all the patrons seemed quite at home. The service was great - the staff spent a good 10 minutes finding the English translation for what a Mont Blanc was. The food was great - we had the foie... read more

We visited this restaurant after looking through the many previous reviews and decided we must try this place for ourselves. We arrived at 8:30 to a quiet atmosphere, yet lively music that set a wonderful tone for the night, and we were greeted to a very friendly host trying her best to accommodate our foreign language (to great success). We... More

Lovely neighborhood place with great home-made food at reasonable price...salmon salad was fresh and light, lamb was cooked perfectly and the desserts ( i tasted my husband's too) were out of this world. Staff is friendly and they speak english well. Wine list and liquor selection above expectations... try the Nikka Whisky from Japan (a great discovery thanks to Fabrice)...... More

I longed to visit this restaurant again after having been a few years ago and had a great experience. Unfortunately this time I was disappointed. The fish was cooked badly and was mainly bone and the vegetables that came with it were very over cooked. However the wine and desert met expectations and were great.

We stopped in here before heading into Pere Lachaise. We were perhaps too early or too late in the day depending on the perspective; we were too early for lunch, so the place was only populated by a few locals taking advantage of the WiFi. When we stopped in, the only breakfast item left was one pain au chocolat. The... More

We love finding hidden gems, away from the main streets and the rest of the tourists... And Aux Petits Oignons was exactly that! We decided to lunch here before embarking on Pere Lachaise to hang out with Jim & Edith. The wait staff were extremely friendly upon arrival, explaining the French menu to us, and going through the wine list... More

While my husband and I were living in the 20th arrondissement, we enjoyed two evening meals here. The atmosphere was lively and young, the service and ambiance were upbeat, and the food was better than average.

we wanted to have lunch somewhere before we went to pére lachaise (starting at the top of the hill) and picked this place. it's a few blocks away on a sidestreet and was the perfect way to start our journey. it was pretty crowded when we got there, but there was a table for the two of us. everything that... nice bistro atmosphere, fresh ingredients of excellent quality, traditional dishes with some surprising variations, good wine list at very moderate prices, and very friendly staff - an excellent restaurant! Be hungry when you go there, the portions are rather copious.

Staying in Belleville / Pere Lachaise

Neighborhood Profile
Belleville / Pere Lachaise
At the eastern edge of Paris lies Belleville / Père Lachaise, an understated wonderland of local treasures. Alongside the world-famous cemetery, family-owned delicatessens and cafés nestle between local stores and establishments. The richness of the population here has created a little Chinatown of Asian restaurants, and the area comes to life at night by a funky underground scene. Façades change from one street to another as one passes from white walled provincial homes to tall blocks and reconverted homes. The whole area is an inspirational mix of people from all corners of the world frequented by artists, students, immigrants, and Parisian families. Once home to supporters of the Paris commune, its rebellious nature is now offset by its rural charms.
