Wow! Simply Amazing!

We ate at Frenchie on the first night of our trip, and it set the bar high for the rest of our vacation. We opted for the early seating since we had flown overnight from the States and knew that we would be very tired. We arrived right on time and were the first ones there. As we sat at... read more

This is not the Frenchie we've loved the past few years over 8-10 visits. Not the Frenchie with a fabulous & filling 3-course 45 euro dinner. Not the Frenchie frequented by loyal locals. No, this is the new, unimproved Frenchie with a minimalist 68 euro 'tasting' menu and a 42 euro wine pairing that totals less than 2 decently poured... More

My friend suggested we go to the wine bar, located directly across the restaurant which one needs to reserve way in advance. We arrived at 6:55pm and there was a long line waiting outside already. The couple in front of us were the last walk-ins allowed, I suggest you get in line by 6:30. We sidled up to the bar... More

I have to say that the food was excellent. It looked and tasted amazing. However, the place is so small that we arrived some minutes in advance and couldn't get into the restaurant. They recommended their Wine Bar, which is just in front of the street... it was so crowded, also, that we ended doing a tour of the "quartier"... More

It is sometimes difficult for reality to meet expectations but in this case the reality exceeded expectations. We got a reservation on our last night in Paris and it was an amazing experience! I had the 5 course tasting menu with wine pairings and my wife, not being as brave because you could not choose your courses, opted for a... More

Ok so we left it too late to get into Frenchie the restaurant (which is just across the lane), but we were told that if you came early enough (i.e. 7pm) then you could get a place at Frenchie wine bar. So we arrived early and we were in luck! Note that if you are a couple then most likely... More

Okay so I think it's difficult to get a reservation at Frenchie because this restaurant is tiny. I'm talking "get ready to eat dinner with your neighbors at the next table" tiny, but that's fine. The food was good; I had better food at other restaurants in Paris, however. And know that there's a good chance you'll have New Yorkers... More

Oh, Frenchie, Frenchie, Frenchie! What to say about a restaurant where expectations were so high? It's really, really good and if you have the chance to go you should. We needed a break from dégustation so we just ordered from the menu. The smoked trout was legendary. The foie gras was outstanding. In fact, everything was great, including desserts. And... More

The ambiance, service, and food were all fabulous. Getting a reservation has been difficult over the last few years, but If you can get in, great, if not there are many other places in Paris one can go.

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
