The pastries certainly looked good. We ordered a chocolate croissant and a coffee. You stand in a long line to order and pay, then you stand in another line to get your coffee. The coffee tasted like hot water. The chocolate croissant was nothing to write home about. There so many better places in almost every street in Paris.

We were at Paul on the left bank. The place looks great with a case of wonderful looking pastries. We both had been walking quite a while so went to the bathroom to wash up first. Big mistake. I know this is Paris so don't expect much, but the place reeked, the soap dispenser was broken and looked like it... More

If you are in Paris its difficult to miss a Paul outlet! We had been to a few during our stay. The coffee is great. Croissants and hot dogs are not fresh...they need to be heated/grilled. If you find a friendly server they will do it for you. Chocolate based croissants and eclairs are very good. The macarons are very... More

This a great place to eat at. This right the Notre Dame Cathedral. This was really good. I think this is the best place that I've ever eaten a burger and there club sandwich was AWESOME!!! The only thing that I didn't like was the fact that I didn't like there services. It took long to get someone to get... More

We decided to take a break from the hotel breakfast and try something different. Our pastry was so sweet, and it would have been enough with the delicious coffee, but we ordered an omelet too. It was huge, and came with a salad (nice change!) and baguettes.

I have been there twice over the past 4 years (once each trip). The first time I was impressed: good coffee, good croissants, nice atmosphere. Our most recent visit 2 days ago was less successful. One very nice but way over-worked waitress was responsible for the entire inside dining area, which was crowded at mid-morning on a weekday. The coffee... More

We had breakfast here several times and always found everything to be delicious - the raisin escargots were a personal favourite! They have a wide range of French patisserie as well as for the more savoury palate - pizzas and hot dogs (served with French mustard, of course!). There was always a queue for service but service is a very... More

Always love the visit to Paul for espresso and pastries. Even at the airport, the quality of the coffee far outpaces all others of its ilk. The staff are always friendly and patient (with those of us who struggle with their native language.) Always delicious breads and sweets. A trip to Paris is not complete until you have discovered this... More

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighborhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighborhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighborhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
