Description: Au Vieux Paris restaurant in the very heart of Paris, on the Ile de la Cite not two steps from Notre Dame, has history and gastronomy in its favour. Patrons Odette and Georges bring their seasonal ingredients each week from the finest organic farms in the Aveyron in southern France to create dishes like warm foie gras, duck breast a lorange, and other classics. The restaurant is sited in an Canons residence constructed in 1512 and the dcor brilliantly over the top reflects history in every detail, the heavily figured scarlet wallpaper and tented ceilings, the antique prints, the exposed stonework and rich draperies. Au Vieux Paris is terribly romantic - youll even have to stroll by the Seine to get home.

Au Vieux Paris looks like something from a fairytale. It invites you to "step inside" Tiny purple bistro tables and chairs perch on the sidewalk outside an ancient building dating to the 1500s. An immense wisteria tree almost entirely covers the front. Inside, original beamed ceilings and floors and very low ceilings take you back in time. The seats are... More

I will dream of this place for years to come. We happened upon it by chance, and the charm of it completely took my breath away. Will be back.

We dined here after reading a great review from Rick Steves and then confirmed with other reviews. We were not disappointed with the taste of the food, the charm of the building and the service of the staff. It's so refreshing to dine at a restaurant that has the genuine flavor of the country you're in. We felt very Parisian!

We stayed close by and spied lots of non tourists eating here night after night. We tried it and loved every part of our evening. Kids in tow we had amazing food. Got the fish and meat prie fixe options and wanted to go back again for more. Great old old building very charming built in 1500s. Very close to... More

Our lovely NYC neighbours recommended this restaurant to us. We enjoyed our first of many meals to be had over six weeks of travel. The experience was wonderful! What elegance, terrific service, excellent wines with outstanding food selections. "First impressions are the most lasting impressions!" and we definitely won't forget this one.

My wife and I were shown this restaurant as part of a walking tour through Paris. We came back for our final meal, and were completely blown away!! I had a filet and my wife was made a not-on-the-menu meal of roasted veggies. We also had the fried potato appetizer and the mozzarella and tomatoes. PLUS, some great wine, salad... More

What a wonderful place. We stumbled up on this gem on our search for a local place for dinner. Only two streets away from Notre Dame, this is a beautiful dinner location tucked away in a side street. The interior is home-y and you feel comfy right away. The serves were very nice and gave us an open table even... More

Great place! Atmosphere was warm and elegant. Sea bass was amazing as well as the coq au vin. Escargot was delightful. Service was attentive. We were directed to the wine cellar to choose our wine!

Made welcome by Frederic even before we entered this charming and cozy restaurant, the entire experience was a delight. Delicious crusty hot bread was our first taste sensation. Two of us enjoyed Odette's terrine, the other two had what was listed on the menu as a large farm salad. It had the freshest greens, duck liver and heart, a soft... More

This place is amazing! The owners are so kind and generous- and create authentic, simple, fantastic French food. We ate inside a room that can only be described as the interior of Marie Antoinette's jewelry box. The wine list is literally in the basement, and before I knew it, I was crouching down a narrow spiral staircase into a wine... More
