Description: Au Vieux Paris restaurant in the very heart of Paris, on the Ile de la Cite not two steps from Notre Dame, has history and gastronomy in its favour. Patrons Odette and Georges bring their seasonal ingredients each week from the finest organic farms in the Aveyron in southern France to create dishes like warm foie gras, duck breast a lorange, and other classics. The restaurant is sited in an Canons residence constructed in 1512 and the dcor brilliantly over the top reflects history in every detail, the heavily figured scarlet wallpaper and tented ceilings, the antique prints, the exposed stonework and rich draperies. Au Vieux Paris is terribly romantic - youll even have to stroll by the Seine to get home.

We dined here on our last night having really enjoyed meals at other restaurants in Paris but this topped it for us. You won't find the menu on line and the website does not do this establishment any favours but trust me that it is a gorgeous place. It is built from the same stone used in Notre Dame (the... More

After some major sightseeing and walking we needed a break and were tired of the brasserie scene. This small cozy spot is literally a 3 minute walk from Notre Dame down a side street. The charm and ambience were #1 on our whole visit. Bring a camera! So for lunch it was spectacular.

Server was very nice and helped us with the menu. The house wine was good middle of the road red wine. The duck was very good with a orange sause along with beef cheeks in a red wine sause was pretty good too.

Walking around hoping to find somewhere for dinner we came across this place. We were made to feel very welcome the minute we walked in the door. The selection of food was great and the meals served were delicious. The staff were fantastic and enhanced the experience. Great night out thoroughly recommend a night out here all reasonably priced.

I had been there in 2001 and was thrilled with the food, location and service. It has changed ownership and the food was not up to par nor was the service....still very quaint and pretty.

This small lovely restaurant is situated just a small walking distance from the Cathedral Notre Dame. And a perfect place to have dinner after visiting the Cathedral. The atmosphere of the place was really wonderful. Interior looked really old and antique. The menu is very traditional French and in our case we didn't even knew in advance what we were... More

Having just attended a concert at La Sainte Chapelle, we walked by Notre Dame and turned onto this street. We were looking at the menu outside, and not seeing what we wanted. A very gregarious man came bouncing out and asked us what we wanted. My friend chicken, me beef...he said come in, in fact he insisted we come in.... More

A stone's throw from the Cathedral Notre Dame, in a small and quiet street, Au Vieux Paris used to be part of the rectory of the Cathedral and was the home of one of the canons. Inside you feel that you are transported in a medieval castle with its old stones and heavy wooden tables. The food is fresh, made... More

This is the third time we have visited Au Vieux Paris and yet again, our experience was perfect. The service, food and atmosphere were wonderful. The menu is traditionally French and the food was prepared perfectly.

We had seen this restaurant while on a 2CV Tour of Paris. Having read some of the reviews I was not sure whether we should make a reservation or not. We decided to do so for the last night of our holiday in Paris. I am really glad we did. From the moment we arrived and were shown to a... More
