On the banks of the Seine, moments from Paris' Ile de la Cite and within easy reach of Paris' most celebrated landmarks is Le Tournebièvre restaurant . The first thing that will undoubtedly strike you about the restaurant (formerly Le Rencard Gourmand) is the breathtaking view across the river. But quite apart from the fairytale setting, Le Tournebièvre is special in its own right. Its classic French bistro cuisine is hugely popular with locals so it provides a real Parisian experience, quite apart from the usual tourist-version of Parisian dining. The simple bistro interior is accompanied, in the summer months, with pavement dining under a wide, shady awning. The traditional French menu is created using fine, seasonal ingredients, with a wide choice for all tastes. And, sacre bleu, the service at Le Tournebièvre is both professional and genuinely friendly.

Great little restaurant with excellent service

The food was outstanding and the service was first class, once we told Damian our waiter that we are on our honeymoon he rushed off to get us some complimentary champagne. We would definitely go back if we had more time in Paris.

I booked this restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews and its location near our hotel, but it doesn't look like much from the outside and is in a very touristy area so we almost cancelled. I'm glad we didn't - once we got inside we found excellent service, a good menu with a variety of choices, a great wine list,... More

Overall excellent experience. Visited with 4 adults and 2 children ages 4 and 6. The menu offered a great variety of Authentic French cuisine which were all perfectly and professionally prepared and were very tasty. The location was very convenient to the Notre Dame cathedral and the ambiance was excellent. The waitstaff were super nice and very attentive even when... More

We went there after seeing the very good evaluations in TripAdvisor. We were a bit surprised, while the service was very friendly, there was nothing extraordinary about this place. The food was quite average and the cheese platter to end the meal was in truth just boring. No french people here, just tourists.

This is a beautiful neighborhood gem. Casual and easy, but also great for a romantic evening with a gorgeous view of Notre Dam lit up at night. We got engaged here and have been returning on each of our trips to Paris. The guys who work there are so friendly and fun to deal with ... can't wait for our... More

Okay, I know I'm in the minority here, but my experience was awful. I'm only saying "poor" instead of "terrible" because our poor waiter was literally handling every single table. By all means, when you set up a waiter to fail.. he most likely will. We stopped there because it was near Notre Dame and it looked like a wonderful... More

My wife and I went to Paris at Easter and we were looking for somewhere really good for my birthday on the Saturday night. After much research on Trip Advisor and spurred on by the excellent reviews we booked Le Tournebievre. It turned out that it was within walking distance of our hotel which was a real bonus, it's right... More

We were in Paris for our wedding and dined here because it was literally 20 steps from our apartment. All I need to say is go and enjoy because you will. The food was top notch and very well priced. The service was perfect and the ambiance was exactly what it should be. If you sit outside or on the... More

After reading the reviews we reserved a table here during a recent city break in Paris. The restaurant was small but we got a table that was not as cramped as other restaurants in Paris. We had the set menu which was good value for Paris and all three courses were excellent. Our waiter spoke excellent English (with an Austrailian... More

We were staying on Isle St. Louis so I asked the hotel for a recommendation. They told me I should go here and called for a reservation: only had outside seating available. We reluctantly accepted since it was cold that evening (4/22/15). But it turns out I am glad we did. The inside seating was taken by some Parisian business... More

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighborhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighborhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
