On the banks of the Seine, moments from Paris' Ile de la Cite and within easy reach of Paris' most celebrated landmarks is Le Tournebièvre restaurant . The first thing that will undoubtedly strike you about the restaurant (formerly Le Rencard Gourmand) is the breathtaking view across the river. But quite apart from the fairytale setting, Le Tournebièvre is special in its own right. Its classic French bistro cuisine is hugely popular with locals so it provides a real Parisian experience, quite apart from the usual tourist-version of Parisian dining. The simple bistro interior is accompanied, in the summer months, with pavement dining under a wide, shady awning. The traditional French menu is created using fine, seasonal ingredients, with a wide choice for all tastes. And, sacre bleu, the service at Le Tournebièvre is both professional and genuinely friendly.

Our visit was distinctly average. The special of duo of pork was like eating a vat of salt. Assuming it was a special I thought it had to be good, maybe its me but I wasn't impressed. Two thin slices of what tasted like gammon and not a pork chop and a chorizo sausage and a pile of watery dauphinose... More

Had a great dinner at this restaurant. The staff was very friendly and the food was great. Very comfortable for Americans while still feeling authentically French. Highly recommend!

I went to this restaurant near our hotel to have a nice last dinner in Paris and it definitely hit the mark. We had a 9pm reservation, but on this night it was perhaps only 2/3 full. The servers were friendly and multilingual. The restaurant was cozy. We sat outside due to the warm weather. My husband enjoyed his escargot... More

Located in one of the most charming areas of Paris directly across the river from Notre Dame....this place is fantastic. Unassuming and delicious. Small little place with hard working attentive staff. Had a tremendous meal here. If your in the area its a great choice...

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Le Tournebievre. We made late reservations at 9 pm. When we showed up there was one table remaining. It was packed with locals & tourists alike. A very bustling, conversational, atmosphere. The service was great. They were really friendly and attentive. The food was really good. Your typical French cuisine. I started off... More

The food was outstanding and the service was first class, once we told Damian our waiter that we are on our honeymoon he rushed off to get us some complimentary champagne. We would definitely go back if we had more time in Paris.

I booked this restaurant based on Trip Advisor reviews and its location near our hotel, but it doesn't look like much from the outside and is in a very touristy area so we almost cancelled. I'm glad we didn't - once we got inside we found excellent service, a good menu with a variety of choices, a great wine list,... More

Overall excellent experience. Visited with 4 adults and 2 children ages 4 and 6. The menu offered a great variety of Authentic French cuisine which were all perfectly and professionally prepared and were very tasty. The location was very convenient to the Notre Dame cathedral and the ambiance was excellent. The waitstaff were super nice and very attentive even when... More

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighborhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighborhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
