On the banks of the Seine, moments from Paris' Ile de la Cite and within easy reach of Paris' most celebrated landmarks is Le Tournebièvre restaurant . The first thing that will undoubtedly strike you about the restaurant (formerly Le Rencard Gourmand) is the breathtaking view across the river. But quite apart from the fairytale setting, Le Tournebièvre is special in its own right. Its classic French bistro cuisine is hugely popular with locals so it provides a real Parisian experience, quite apart from the usual tourist-version of Parisian dining. The simple bistro interior is accompanied, in the summer months, with pavement dining under a wide, shady awning. The traditional French menu is created using fine, seasonal ingredients, with a wide choice for all tastes. And, sacre bleu, the service at Le Tournebièvre is both professional and genuinely friendly.

I'm not crazy about the location. However, after going to this restaurants two nights in a row, I can honestly say it's some of the best food we've had in Paris. Very creative French country with excellent detail to quality, taste and options. Specials each evening. Simple things like pomme frittes are some of the best. Cassoulet was excellent with... More

Dined outdoors - reasonably priced set menu in a touristic spot, charming waiter, all made for a pleasant evening on a warm evening in Paris. My starter of a warm camembert cheese with honey was divine, my husband's escargot was yummy and garlicky; don't miss the profiteroles!!! :)

Just have a 3 course meal for $37 euro which was wonderful, location was on the left bank. Service was also great, well worth a visit.

Right in the heart of the touristy area near Notre Dame, the restaurant offers set meal for 1-3 courses at your choice. Booked a table for Friday night dinner, restaurant wasn't packed so could have walked in without a reservation. Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Authentic French food. Portion of food wasn't extremely large but sufficient to fill me up.

We returned here again and for the last time with Maloury as the chef/owner. According to the waiter, the restaurant will change ownership in September with the same menu and appearance. It will be interesting to see how the recipes are presented, especially the escargots. This visit was disappointing because it was just too hot to enjoy the food. I... More

The entrées, terrine de salmon and shrimps were really tasteful and nicely presented. The main dishes were delicious too!

This was a delightful surprise, in amongst some very average bistros, this place was a real find. The welcome was friendly, the service charming and the food excellent. I had a gazpacho type soup which was refreshing and tangy. Followed by some excellent scallops. My companion had prawns on guacamole for starters, also tasty and refreshing, followed by some excellently... More

A few extra steps away from the rows and rows of tourist restos and view of the backside of Notre Dame makes this place quite appealing. But the food just shoots it's appeal through the roof. The owner is also the chef. The food is fresh and the menu frequently changes. The waitstaff is nice. Very good escargot.

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighborhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighborhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
