On the banks of the Seine, moments from Paris' Ile de la Cite and within easy reach of Paris' most celebrated landmarks is Le Tournebièvre restaurant . The first thing that will undoubtedly strike you about the restaurant (formerly Le Rencard Gourmand) is the breathtaking view across the river. But quite apart from the fairytale setting, Le Tournebièvre is special in its own right. Its classic French bistro cuisine is hugely popular with locals so it provides a real Parisian experience, quite apart from the usual tourist-version of Parisian dining. The simple bistro interior is accompanied, in the summer months, with pavement dining under a wide, shady awning. The traditional French menu is created using fine, seasonal ingredients, with a wide choice for all tastes. And, sacre bleu, the service at Le Tournebièvre is both professional and genuinely friendly.

We went here to get a traditional French bistro experience in a nice setting and we weren't disappointed. It's small without feeling cramped; pleasantly intimate inside. Servers were exceedingly friendly and helpful. Food was wonderful. Multiple fish choices for us as pescaterians. It renewed my faith in risotto- not the sticky glop so often served in the US. Excellent fish. The meal with starter and dessert was a great deal. Would definitely recommend.

This place was a great find considering it is slap bang in a touristy area. Good classic French cooking and not too pricey - can't understand other reviews saying otherwise? We paid €100 for 2 courses for two with a bottle of wine and coffee so compatible to most other places we have eaten in all over Paris out with... More

I love this restaurant. My boyfriend searched reviews in the are to find a non touristy place to eat, that had good straightforward delicious food. This is exactly what we got. Great Food. ( I am a former chef instructor and pastry chef, and my boyfriend is a foodie) The place is small, so make reservations- but it was the... More

My partner and I had a great night at Le Tournebievre. The food was fantastic, as was the wine and the friendly waiter added to the lovely atmosphere of the place. Would definitely recommend for a nice, but not too pricey night out.

I'm not one for leaving many reviews but the fact this has received so many high ratings is astonishing! Truly! I'm disappointed at how so many diners can have such low standards to say this place is 'amazing'. I'll keep it short and hope that you have the incentive to not follow the 'tourist' masses and head elsewhere; Pro: waiter... More

First night in Paris, we picked this restaurant randomly, food is good and waiter is welcoming but prices are very expensive.

We had very high expectations, and it was met in every single aspect! The food was absolutely delicious, the service was good, the place has a nice feeling to it... all in all, it was our best meal in Paris (head to head with Le Loubnane)! The scargots were delicious, the risotto-fish duo was so perfect I still dream of... More

Great food, friendly staff and a cosy setting. The food was cooked to perfection. Served quickly and presented very well this is a definite recommend for families and couples. Be prepared to pay for the quality but you wont be disappointed!

Staying in Odeon / Saint-Michel

Neighborhood Profile
Odeon / Saint-Michel
As the bustling center of entertainment for the residents of the Rive Gauche, the activity at Odéon never stops. Boulevards are lined with traditional cafes, restaurants, and boutique cinemas. The streets surrounding the fountain at Saint-Michel provide eateries from around the world. Lively bars are just next door and the prototypical terraced French brasserie is on every corner. The setting for this area is second to none; the Haussmann-style boulevards are contrasted by monumental architecture and overshadowed by the iconic Notre Dame, all within a moment’s walk from the Seine. This neighborhood's world-famous bookshops, cafés, and streets will not fail to impress you.
