Description: Un Jour a Peyrassol restaurant in Paris' 2nd arrondissement near the...
Un Jour a Peyrassol restaurant in Paris' 2nd arrondissement near the Bourse proudly wears its historic connection to the Knights Templar by the crimson crosses it displays right out front. The Peyrassol Commanderie, of which this restaurant must be its best embassy, in Provence was founded in 1256 by them and has been producing limited and lovely wines for centuries. This restaurant plays beautifully on the theme of antiquity with rough exposed stone and brick walls, vaulted rooms, barrel-staved tasting bar, rustic wood tables and chairs opposite utterly sleek acrylic seating, the walls hung with photographs of the countryside to study. The menu focusses on the food of Provence and on black truffles, in frequently-changing dishes like mache, goat cheese and truffle salad, prawns with fork-mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs with winter truffles, dark chocolate cake. Red, rose and white Peyrassol wines are on offer, and if you like the vibrant flavours you've tasted, you can buy many of the bits from the shop at the front.

We went to 'Un jour a Peyrassol' with great expectations and we were not disappointed, on the contrary! Everything was delicious, plates were delicately presented and service was impecable. My favourite options were mozzarella with truffles and gnocchis with truffles. I will definitely go back!

This is a very intimate hidden place specialized in truffles. Our server guide us choosing from the menu and he had great suggestions. My favorites were the Mozzarella with truffles and the Gnocchi as main plate.

For lovers of truffles here your paradise awaits! There are other non truffle delights on the menu too. This has to be the best food find in Paris. We are real foodies and know Paris very well. This hidden gem is a must. A small restaurant with 10 tables, beautiful stone cave like setting and a delightful passionate waiter and... More

My wife and I stumbled upon this restaurant while wandering aimlessly from our hotel.....a lucky break for us! The dishes all contain truffles which at first did nothing for me. That's before we tried the bean soup infused with truffle oil which was easily the best dish we had in our week in this amazing city. Our waiter, Carlos, was... More

The restaurant is a bit of an anomaly in Paris. It is run by a chateau in the South, so the restaurant serves only the Chateau's wines alongside foods from the region- all of which are bathed in truffles (not literally, of course). Each dish comes with a healthy serving of truffles- which may be ordered shaved or grated onto... More

Just discovered the wonderful taste of truffles and was brought here by my husband for special occasion. LOVED the chataigne soup with truffles, I still dream about it. Then had the baked potato with truffles, loved that a bit less, I should've stayed classic with pasta..

It is difficult to review this place. For a restaurant that specializes in truffles, there is no smell of truffles. There is not by way of choices for wine. The service is French friendly, meaning that you get forced smiles and you are not sure whether they are happy to have you as a customer or not. The location is... More

More

"Un jour a peyrassol" is a tiny, stylish restaurant with a one track mind - truffles. I had the asparagus/parmesan starter which was delicious, and then the gnocchi which was spectacular. This is the perfect place for a treat for vegetarians. I will return.

Staying in Opera / Bourse

Neighborhood Profile
Opera / Bourse
The neighborhood around Opéra and Bourse is a belle époque paradise of grand boulevards, refined arcades, and mass-market art-nouveau entertainment. Here, modern day workers continue to take advantage of the legacy that nobility and finance left in the 19th century. Brightly-lit brasseries, theaters, and cinemas sit side by side with French bistros predominating in one area and Japanese restaurants in another. The area is most famous for the Palais Garnier opera house and glamorous department stores.
