Great food, really worth a visit

Friends recommended this taverne as my husband and I were staying nearby. So glad we found time to eat there. In an area dense with bistros and restaurants, we found the food there better than upmarket options.the lamb shanks were simple but so delicious. Good quick and caring service too.

this place was recommended to us by our hotel. they serve food from a small card (also available in English) with typical parisian choices from 6pm on. the french onion soup is very good. the staff was very friendly and attentive. A lot of local people were having drinks there. the actual pub is quiet small, but they installed wintergardens... More

Has been one of our favorites for years and we've never been disappointed. The food is classic and simple but excellent quality: no fancy, just good, 'real' French cuisine, fresh and well prepared. I would say, just as we like it in France. The word Tavern is well deserved and the expectations it raises are for sure met. The staff... More

I wrote a review a while ago and visited again several times since then. From excellent it went down to average in my eyes. First of all the service is not as friendly and professional anymore, nothing special at all. Second, the food is ok but of medium quality, just average. It is still a good place but given the... unlike the other somewhat upscale and chi chi fine restaurants in the quartier, this is an honest, and good value simple french restaurant serving decent enough cuts of meat, burgers, wine by the glass and beer. go expecting not a great deal & it's a winner. nice terrace, somewhat hit & miss staff though

Good lunch option. €14.50 for 2 courses and coffee with lots of French bread. Busy with locals. We had the Mozarella starter and the Steak frites - both good with glasses of Rhone white wine. Would go back

I had been sight seeing in Paris all day and just needed a few cold beers. There were quiet a few people sitting outside enjoying a drink so I thought I would stop by. The waitress spoke good ENGLISH and I asked her for a wheat beer and she got me a pint of Affligem which I had never heard... More

This is a street café very near the Louvre and Rue Rivoli. There is not much "inside" to it, but they have somewhat covered their outdoor seating. The specials are, as most places like them, on a board although there is a printed menu. This was a good place for my wife, granddaughter and I to eat dinner which we... More

My two teenage children and I were traveling through Paris for one night and believe, me this June, Paris is super busy with tourists. Right off the Rue de Rivoli is La Taverne on a beautiful buzzy block, but away from the mayhem. Alan was our service and not the typical brisk, curt server! He was helpful with translations and... Un service au lance-pierre, désagréable et impoli. Un responsable vraiment pas commerçant qui refuse de répondre des erreurs de ses employés. Je n'y retournerai pas. Staff really not nice, super fast and not polite. The bartender is not even recognizing any of its employees' mistakes and looks only after you money. NEVER AGAIN!

Staying in Les Halles

Neighborhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
