Great find

Lovely. Great French food, presented well, great service. Attentive staff and great value for money. Steaks were fantastic and good selection of wine. Looked like it was popular with locals which is always a good sign.

We were just wandering the streets looking for a restaurant when we stumbled across this little spot. After waiting for maybe 5 minutes, for them to clean a table, we were immersed into a great little French bistro. Escargot... Rabbit... A beef filet... Creme Brulee.... What more do you want in a French meal. Place was hopping during our entire... More

We went there when going down from Sacre Couer. Excellent menu options. Most of them above average judging by the look. We had a selection of chesses for starter and 2 excellent main courses. The staff were very kind and with good English. Another good thing is that all seating have very good view.

We'd shortlisted this one based on other reviews and it was well worth seeking out. We had to wait around 20 minutes for a table as after seven it gets pretty busy, but there were tables outside to have a drink until our table inside was ready. We chose from the specials board which was brought outside for us to... More

My favorite restaurant in Montmarte so far. Really great people working there (and they all speak English ), good service , great food (cheeseburgers are yum, for the less adventurous eater). Nice vibe - we've been there 3 times in 5 days. Prices are standard for the area - about 10 to 15 euros for mains, 25cl beer and glass... More

A great place to have drinks/small bites with friends. Quite a lot of crowd at weekends. The waiters are friendly which was above French standard.

Need a drink and a steak and fries? This is your place. The outdoor seating is great for people watching while you enjoy yourself. Staff is pleasant, but can be a little slow- even by European standards.

I've been visiting Le Progres for a few years and was surprised to see that people were writing reviews about food here. In my experience this is one very busy bar. I've never seen anyone eating here at all. Its a really good fun busy bar/cafe - service can be slow due to how popular it is, but its great... More

It might be a total exception but we really had an awful experience at "Le Progres". To put my review in perspective, I have never written a negative review of anything or had any quarrel at any restaurant (or shop) ever before (and I am not in my 20s). However, this experience was so bad that it ended in a... More

Le Progres was just a few steps away from where we stayed in Montmartre, so was an ideal place for us to stop by. Wonderful charm, lovely to sit outside over a coffee (or something stronger) and watch the world pass by.

Staying in Montmartre

Neighborhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colors, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
