My mother came here in the 70s and highly recommended it, so when my boyfriend and I came to Paris for our anniversary this weekend we had to try it out. The food was exquisite and so typically French. It isn't cheap, but worth every penny! We had "melt in the mouth" fois gras and a mixed fish plate consisting... More

On Easter Monday, we were shopping near the Pont Neuf and while returning home we walked by the entrance to Place Dauphine. I wanted to show it to my husband and since it was around noon, we checked out all the restaurants open there. The only one that had a table open outside in the sun was La Rose de... More

This place is wonderful and an absolute gem of a restaurant, in a very quiet square very close to Notre Dame. The place is beautifully quaint and cosy. The staff are very kind and helpful. The food is exceptional. We took our two children (9yr and 11yr) who do enjoy good food. They shared the snails to start and then... More

We found this place by chance and were not disappointed. The staff are all friendly and cheerful - by no means the norm in Paris or France - and the lunch menu was very good at a reasonable price. It IS small, but that feels cosy to me. (The loo is very clean, again unusual, and a very good sign... More

We were wandering in the area on a Friday night and stumbled upon the restaurant. It had a lovely exterior with Ball and Farrow style painted front. We, at first a little hesitant, as it was very bright inside versus candlelit, but we ventured in as the menu looked great. We had a mixture of dishes including Lamb Shank, Beef,... More

We booked this restaurant online before we travelled to Paris and expected it to be nice but not as great as it was. From the square it just looks like a little cafe up inside its really lovely. The restaurant is tiny with only 20 seats but this makes the atmosphere fantastic. The food was really special, rustic French with... More

After wandering from the Marais, over Ile St Louis and on to Ile de la Cite I was in need of lunch - somewhere preferably warm and cosy. La Rose de France is located in the pretty and quiet Place Dauphine and the restaurant was basked in sunshine. The waitresses welcomed me in out of the cold and and I... More

Out for a walk after the rugby and came across the restaurant in a beautiful square on the Ile de Cite. Three of us had the fish soup to start which was fantastic as was the Rosemary infused smoked salmon. Risotto, pork and duck for mains resulted in a second bottle of wine before finishing with apple cake and crime... More

This is one of my favorite "go to" restaurants in Paris, and it is right on Place de Dauphine on the isle de Cité Such a beautiful setting. The food is great and the service is wonderful. Lovely at night.

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
