A Gem in Place Dauphine

I thought that staying in an apartment adjacent to Pont Neuf would mean that we would need to travel further afield to get away from the standard tourist fare offered in the immediate area...Not so. Immediately around the corner we stumbled on Le Rose and captured by the quality limited menu we... read more

La Rose de France is a small but perfectly formed restaurant on the Ile de France island at Pont Neuf in Paris. Fantastic steak, lovely wine & excellent service. All this while seated at the Place Dauphine in Paris. Priceless!!!

This was our third visit to Paris and this time stayed near the Louvre. We crossed the Seine at Pont Neuf, hoping to find a reasonable dinner venue. Just over the bridge and onto the Île de la Cité we turned left into Rue Henri Robert and on into Place Dauphine [one of the five Royal Squares] where we spot... More

A fantastic restaurant in a lovely location. A small number of tables - so a reservation essential. Champagne to start and then I had the cod loin and my wife the lamb shank - both were very nice and our waitress was lovely...recommending an excelent wine and good service throughout. We will be back.

La Rose is perfection. It is situated on one of the most historic islands in the Seine. It's place would make me wonder if it's a restaurant for tourists. But it isn't. Today the restaurant was occupied by local French men and women relishing their lunches. Most were having the lamb shank, which was beautifully presented. I had the house... More

This is a superb little restaurant in the centre of Paris, yet off the beaten path on a picturesque square behind Notre Dame. Good value food and reasonable service...

We ate here twice in two weeks for dinner with friends. Everyone enjoyed their food, which included carrot soup, salmon, duck, cod, and desserts. The wine list is good and not overblown. The service is delightful and personal. Unless you go before 8pm, reservations are highly recommended. There are perhaps 20 tables. One small round room holds a table for... More

This very charming restaurant is in a quiet place on the Ile de la Cité off Pont Neuf, a veritable haven after the noise and crowds in the general area. The staff was extremely nice and even let us in a bit early. I had the beef filet and my husband had lamb shank with fabulous mashed potaoes. We shared... More

We dropped in to this charming little restaurant to escape the Parisian crowds and some rain. The ambience was excellent, the service very good and the food was very well prepared and presented. We shared some tasting platters and a bottle of house wine. the foie gras was particularly tasty. It was quite pricey but well worth it for an... More

We had dinner here twice and both times everything was exceptional. For an appetizer, the first time we had the French onion soup and the other time the sampler plate, both dishes were good. For the main course we had the duck both times. Everything was presented nicely and tasted very good. For dessert we had the pear dish which... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
