Delicious lunch and great service

This is just the kind of restaurant my husband and I love. It was cosy, authentic France with great wine, great service and delicious food. My husband said it was the best venison he had ever tasted. I had roast duck with the most velvety, tasty sauce. We decided to share the profiteroles to... read more

I live in the neighborhood and the restaurant was recommended by a local, bolstered by online recommendations. The vibe was relaxed and authentic, the staff friendly. But the menu and food were ordered lacked any imagination. The special was a beef stew that was quite literally broth with tough chunks of beef and undercooked vegetables. The menu is very heavy... Had dinner for the first time in this restaurant, had read the other reviews and this lived up to my expectations. This is a typical small 'cosy' French restaurant, the service was friendly and helpful, good selection of traditional french dishes and good wines. The Foie gras and vegetable broth was welcome on a cold January evening, as was the... More

Great service. Friendly and quick. Small restaurant with excellent canard, one of the best we have had in Paris. The Foie Gras were great. The Mi-cuit was smooth and creamy with a beautiful flavorful and the escalopes were pure delight. We have been to this restaurant 3 times over the past 3 years, simply because the Margaret de canard is... More

Sometimes we planned our day focusing on a great food destination and then looking to see what attractions are close by :) Taking lunch at Le Restaurant du Comptoir was such a plan. The small indoor area was already packed with only one two-top available, so we chose to eat in the small, enclosed outdoor section to people-watch. We ordered... More

I normally buy a slice of jambon persillee & a slice of pate de foie gras de canard in this deli on arrival in Paris to enjoy with a baguette in my apartment. They are the stuff of dreams. They can normally suggest an inexpensive good bottle of red wine to go with them too. This trip I decided to... More

I read quite a few reviews about restaurants in Paris for my first visite. (Hilarious btw, I love the French...) Every place I went was acceptable, even the Persian kebab street vendor. However, the restaurant at Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie absolutely surpassed its excellent reviews. Not only is the atmosphere small, warm, and slightly kitschy, but the servers were... More

Ordered: French onion soup - €9.50 Foie Gras Ravioli - €19.00 Pork stew (Joeus de cochon) - €18.00 French onion soup was very good, husband like the truffle ravioli, but I didn't think it was memorable. FORGET THE PORK, it was average at best. We came for lunch and initially tried to order their set menu lunch, but was told... More

I absolutely fell in love with with my experience at this restaurant. The interior is cozy, intimately lit, and exudes the essence of being classically French. Our waiter was friendly pleasant and suggested a lovely red wine for my friend and I. THE FOOD. I'm not sure there are words to articulate how perplexed I was to have read about... More

Staying in Les Halles

Neighborhood Profile
Les Halles
Historically the central iron-clad market of Paris, Les Halles has evolved architecturally since then but the pulsating energy has stayed the same. Now it houses the main shopping mall, which nestles underground surrounded by fast-food take-aways and international restaurants coupled with beautiful churches and the old commodity exchange. Parallel to it are the high-street stores of Rue de Rivoli and just parallel to that the Seine. The area bustles with faces from all continents and all ages at all times of the day. If enjoying high-street shopping with easy access to fast eateries and lively bars is on your agenda, this is the place to go.
