A great birthday treat!

A lovely bistro restaurant with an excellent and interesting choice of typical French cuisine. We went for my husband's 50th birthday so I wanted it to be special - the restaurant was one which was recommended by our amazing hotel Hotel Bourg Tibourg (see review). The thing that should really make you "wow" is, in my opinion, the food, in particular the main courses. The food quality just didn't live up to my expectations. (and a mild disappointment in the context of the many very positive reviews of this restaurant). Prices average. Would not repeat with so many other choices in Paris.

Excellent food, impeccable service and a lovely atmosphere. If I could I would have tried everything on the menu, but my favourites are the creamy chestnut soup, scallops, hambourgeois and the chocolate mi-chit cake with caramel sauce. Had a fantastic evening there and the service was extremely friendly, welcoming and charming. Can't wait to go there again during my next... More

Went with wife and my family for an evening meal. Very friendly greeting by both manager and waitresses. Food was brilliant, not pretentious and full of flavour. Each one of us said that it was one of the best meals we gave had. Special mention to Nikita who was extremely accommodating... Even to my dad's cheesy jokes!! Will be back... More

We enjoyed everything about this restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We received a warm welcome from Vicky and throughout the night Nikita was very attentive and helpful-great service with a smile. World class small restaurant.

This restaurant is small and very busy. It serves traditional French dishes and the food was good though not quite as good as that in a couple of other restaurants we ate in this trip. Staff were helpful. The bill was not as reasonable as others but by no means expensive.

Had no arrangements and just walked by. It was a surprise that they had a table which could take us. Amazingly prepared with all fresh ingredients (no written menus, only a chalkboard). Service was amazing and an excellent wine list. The fact that everything is home made was a plus and the service staff were great. It is a VERY... More

We booked this restaurant on a recommendation from our hotel and also after reading the reviews on here and we were really pleased we went. The waitresses were very welcoming and helpful - they explained the menu in full to us, translating from french into English which was very understanding of them. The food was really well presented and cooked,... More

I went there for a birthday dinner with 2 friends. The waitresses were very welcoming, the house cocktail a wine mojito was surprisingly good. The food was just great and tasty. I had a rib (cote de boeuf) that was at least 700g! The lentils, lobster salad are a couple of the starters that stood out, the confit de canard... More

If you only eat out once while in Paris go here. it is so refreshing to find a restaurant where the food is freshly prepared from great ingredients in a charming and comfortable space with excellent service. The food is traditional French with a slightly modern twist - escargots with edible shells, riz de veau caramelised, excellent steaks and mouth... More

Staying in Le Marais

Neighborhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendor. This neighborhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
