We learned that finding a good restaurant in France is a matter of wandering the streets of the town you are in. Sometimes in Paris, we searched for an hour going up and down the streets away from the tourist areas. We were reading the menu in the window of La Varangue when a couple sitting at a table told... Six years ago we stumbled upon this fantastic restaurant. It was too good to be true. Here we are again, back in Paris and headed straight to LaVarangue. Do not miss this treasure. It's a family run business so don't expect waiters in tuxedos. For euro 15.00 you can order duck, rabbit, beef bourguigon and if you're a vegetarian, he... More

We stumbled on this tiny restaurant near our hotel, and went in only because we saw the TA sticker, though we hadn't read the TA evaluations. My wife and I both had the salmon and thought it was about the best we had ever eaten. Philippe, the chef and owner, was fun to watch as he smiled, interacted with his... More

This was a recommended restaurant (by Rick Steve's) and it was a good pick. Very small, seats about 20, but since we dined early (6pm) we were alone with Phillipe, chef and owner. I chose the salmon, my husband chose the pork medallions. Both were very well prepared and very tasty. My salmon had a risotto side, his had home... More

I've ended up in this restaurant by accident, considering the position the prices are fair. I ordered a "boeuf bourguignon" and it was good. There were mushrooms inside the bourguignon and, despite knowing a lot of people feeling badly after eating mushrooms out, i felt absolutely fine. I can therefore say that the food was fresh.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by accident and were drawn in as it offered vegetarian options and we had one in our group. The restaurant is very small and can seat 30 people maximum with Philippe the owner also being the chef and waiter. The menu range is quite small but the food which is cooked is superb as the... My first trip to Paris. Was with my wife and daughter and her boyfriend. We stumbled upon this place and saw the Trip Advisor rating in the window. Did a quick review of the comments and decided to give it a try. We were really glad we did as the food was excellent and we felt we got a really... More

I was in Paris for a weekend away with another Mum friend, having left our other halves and kids at home in London. This small friendly restaurant near the Eiffel Tower and even nearer our hotel was just what we needed after a busy day sightseeing. Friendly owner, good food, reasonable price. I had snails (!) and boeuf bourgignon so... More

This is a quaint neighborhood place run by a french born man, Phillippe, that used to live in the US. It seats maybe 16 and he cooks with a view to the dining area. He is very personable and always lets Americans know which is the most authentic dish on the menu, with the code words-"Very French"....not expensive and his... More

I'm french and I know a lot about french food and believe me this place is an insult for my country. We went there because some friends of mine visiting paris for the first time bought a groupon voucher. The owner who is also the chef and the waiter was SO rude that we decided to leave before the food... More
