unprepossessing and yet...

Good value French style food ( + paella on Fridays ) Although lacking the atmosphere of Chartier the cuisine is similar but at a higher level and copious. Steaks melt in the mouth baguettes good ( the 18th has a wide selection of good bakers ) Good honest food at reasonable prices if you're in... read more

Found it close to our hotel and it was perfect. A small simple restaurant with only a french card. But Paula, original from Potugal, is super kind and she will tell you all you need to know from the card. And then she will tell you what wine to take best for your dinner. We had a first time frog... More

This hidden gem serves lovely, unpretentious traditional French fare. And the service is very friendly.

The menu was extremely affordable, except what I wanted to try the most, Sole Muniere at 30euros. Instead, I had to try steak au poivre with frites, which was a reasonable 9euros. Crudite as a starter, with a lovely vin ordinaire rouge. The chef casually strutted to the kitchen you can partially see from the dining room, the stainless steel... More

Very friendly, good friendly neighbourhood atmosphere, nice traditional French dishes, reasonably priced. Does a special Paëlla on Friday. We eat here a lot. Paula is great.

As a part time resident of the 18th, I've found no better place for authentic French home cooking (at an incredible value) any where in my 6 years of exploring the neighborhood. Paula serves, her husband cooks and family members assist at busy lunch and dinner hours. They close on weekends and close the kitchen promptly at 9P so don't... More

During my last business trip, I had booked a hotel in a rather ugly area of Paris, along with a colleague of mine. Being disappointed by our rooms, we quickly got out to get something to eat. The neighborhood was rather strange, so we thought we were out of luck until we saw the entrance of Chez Paula. Since it... More

Me and other friends had booked a table Chez Paula for last Friday (April the 21st). When we arrived, Paula, the tenant, was very nervous because of us being only 5 people instead of the 6 people initially predicted. All other customers were staring at the scene. In no more than 3 sentences, her nervousness quick turned into hysteria, until... More

I was recommended this restaurant by the staff at my hotel, and it was perfect. I felt like I had found France when I entered. It was filled with chattering French people and the hostess was Paula herself! She was so kind. I speak little French, and she came and described the menu to me in English. After a delicious...
