Perfect!

This place is worth a visit. The ice cream is really tasty, even though it seems strange if you read a name like "Roasted pineapple with fresh basil". It was perfect! I will definitely come again and try some more sorts! There are plenty of coffee shops selling this ice cream in Paris, but... read more

After reading reviews about this place I thought I'd drag my boyfriend along and try it out. It's great, the ice cream is very flavoursome and there are some interesting flavours to try. I recommend getting the salted caramel ice cream. The only downside was that our server seemed very miserable and people were being crammed into the small restaurant... More

My friends all recommended this cafe for their ice cream--and we indulged. Amazing flavors-- and i enjoyed rhubarb and lemon. The rest of the menu is classic French, and reasonable. I had the onion soup, and a friend had eggs/salmon. All very good. But the real draw is drinks on the terrace--- and of course the ice cream!

Every time I go to Paris I try to visit Berthillon 2-3 times. The ice cream is unbelievable and the flavors are different every day. All of the flavors are made from fresh ingredients. There is nothing more perfect than wandering the ile st. louis with an ice cream cone from Berthillon.

After running the Paris Marathon my wife and I visited here to treat ourselves. I had 3 scoops (caramel, moka, amaretto ) which were to die for. My wife had chocolate noir and amaretto which she equally loved. People may say they are expensive (€10 for both) but you pay for the quality and location. We did have to queue... More

Although cold weather, pretty long queue. Not much choice, hope in Summer it's better. I have expected melting pleasure, but unfortunately tastes were like in any other glacier of good reputation. A pity, fame overstated.

We stopped here for lunch after visiting Notre Dame, an easy walk behind it. First sat at an outdoor table but it became windy and cold. Our waiter was not happy about our request to move indoors but did accommodate. It was a great experience from that point. The coq au vin, the jambon de porc and the cassoulet were... More

Yes the is the original. The island can be confusing with everyone claiming they have the ice cream but this is the real deal. Getting a table, especially outside on a pretty day, can be difficult. You must be a little assertive and claim your table when someone gets up. But it is worth it. The ice cream is very... More

On the island of Saint-Louis a few minutes walk from the cathedral of Notre Damme you can enjoy one of the most famous varieties of ice cream in the world - Berthillon in the cafe with a same name. Ice cream invented and produced a family company whose founder was Raymond Berthillon - chef and owner of the cafe in... More

I have been traveling for a long time now and I have had a sweet tooth for an even longer time so I feel very qualified to offer you my humble opinion here about Berthillon which is also very well supported by other reviewers. It's one of the best I've ever tasted but, I've only been to four continents yet!... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighborhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
