I never understood berthillon. The brand stands for nothing in particular. Poor industrial ice cream served all over Paris in old style, dishevelled bistrots... Not my cup of tea. Sorry
...after browsing around the charming ile st. louis area, and also hearing about this from anthony bourdain. it was truly the most unique ice cream...so rich, so flavorful, so visually beautiful. the poire and the chocolat noir were out of this world. cue the beret-wearing bicyclists going by with their baskets of flowers and baguettes and the accordian player nailing... They have several gelato flavors. Always a long line outside. A must try place when you visit Paris. Tried the raspberry and basil sorbet... So awesome! They only use all natural ingredients for their ice cream. No sugar substitutes or chemicals.
This is not some American ice creamery which requires "mix-ins". the very thought alone makes me cringe. This is the quintessential richness of such flavors as passionfruit, so bright in flavor you may never be the same; chocolat noir (dark chocolate) which is so earthy and toasted, you need only a ping-pong sized scoop. Berthollion has been on the Ile... More
Based on Trip Advisor reviews we made a point to try Berthillon ice cream at their St. Louis location in Paris. We were not very impressed. Two small scoops -- average taste and rather pricey. There was a long line so it must be a popular choice. We much preferred Amorino on Rue St. Louis for gelato and sorbet. Large... More
I love ice cream! Its one of my passions. The ice cream or glace here is just WOnDErFUL. I splurged and had two scoops, great decision! The staff in the store were very attentive and their flavor choices were impressive. I had a double chocolate and vanilla. It was really OUT OF THIS WORLD good. Many places all over the... More
Berthillon has the reputation of having the best ice cream in all of Paris and I'm pleased to report that its reputation is well earned. While we had a little trouble locating it, it was worth the search. My wife and I each had a couple of scoops, My wife had pistachio and I had the chocolate and we both... More
We have never tried so many different and delicious flavours of ice cream and sorbet. Our favourite was the orange sanguine ( blood orange) sorbet. The queues can be long but we found there were shorter queues after 9.30pm. The wait was worth it.
The ice cream was delicious and there were a couple of unusual flavours - I had cherry plum and salted butter caramel. The cherry plum tasted as you would imagine - delicious and exactly like ripe sweet cherry plums. I like that all the ingredients are natural, and it is family run/owned since 1954. However, the price is a little... More
