one of the best and most affordable michelin restaurant. Great fusion of Japanese and French food - delicious, small portions, but delicately filling.

We so enjoyed our dinner. Wonderful, imaginative choices for each course. Excellent service and wonderful selection of wines paired with dinner. So deserves Michelin star!

I have spent some time in Fontainebleau...4 weeks there in July 2014 and another 3 days in November 2014...eventually I made the time to enjoy a dinner at this fine restaurant. Beautiful understated, classy decor, with tables arranged in a way that every table feels private. The service is what one would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant...unobtrusive, advisory, knowledgeable,... More

The restaurant doesn't have many tables so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment. Excellent food and attentive service made it an experience to remember. I went with a group of friends and we thoroughly enjoyed the food. They even specially catered a vegetarian meal as well for one of my friends. A generous selection of breads was offered... More

Attentive service, lovely atmosphere and dishes with pure taste's. Japanese touch, which made it far more special next to the traditional french cuisine. The menu is only in french. Staff knew some english and were explaining the menu, nevertheless I would expect them to have an english menu as well. Chef's complimentary dishes were excellent (2 appetizers, small dessert, finishing... More

Our trip was spoilt by a junior sommelier who was awful, the food was of a high quality but not as amazing as you would expect, we went for the taster menu and taster wine. Over all expected a lot more than what they delivered. Would not go back

This restaurant is located an hour drive from Paris nearby the Fontainebleau Castle and forest. Surroundings are a bit suprising for a one star restaurant since it is in a quite plain street a few meters away from a coin laundry. The exterior is pretty plain too but the interior is quite cosy and comfortable with around ten tables at... More

The Chef cooks outstanding. He cares not only about how to make original dishes, but also about taste. and the price is very good, especially compare to the food. For roughly 50 euros you get 4 courses and 4 compliments. definitely it's best restaurant in Fontainebleau. The only thing which can stop L'Axel of getting second Michelin star is service.... More

Well, we all have some memorable restaurant experiences, and this one certainly was for me. I mean, this is just a superb restaurant, with great, attentive, well-paced service. The building and the room do not look like much but there are a lot of thoughtful touches like the decoration and the lighting and the fresh flowers. And then there is... More

We had an enjoyable meal. We weren't sure about the options on the tasting menu initially but enjoyed all four courses and all the other little tasters in between. Wine was good and staff very attentive. A memorable experience.
