Delicate food, elegant surroundings & especially professional service

We loved the ambience, the knowledgable waiters, good wine by the glass (as well as the bottle of reasonably priced Burgundy we ordered), to wash down some excellent main courses, delicious amuses bouches, and aestheically served, delicately flavoured food. The menu, as always, was the way to go.

A truly magnificent meal served with precision and smiles in a lovely environment. Beginning with the amuse bouche of asparagus puree in small pastry cones, each course was lovelier and more delicious than the last. Merci Beaucoups for a memorable dinner for a recent graduate of INSEAD.

We went there as a 'large' group : 6 persons, for a birthday. We all had the 7-course menu, which allows you to discover a wide range of products and preparations. Each dish was amazing ! Some had the Wagyu beef, which is probably the bets meat I ever tasted in my life. Downright fantastic. We had a great choice... More

Decent food with reasonable price and great service which is not common combination in France.

I've eaten at many restaurants, including a fair number that cost more than L'Axel. I have never had better food, anywhere. I went with my wife for our wedding anniversary and Chef Kunihisa served a meal that is nothing short of extraordinary. We could not decide what to eat so tried the full tasting menu, asking the staff to bring... More

i was blown away by the effort made by the chef and the staff to be attentive to our food issues? They replaced their entire first offering of an Amuse Buche to be certain my issues were addressed. In subsequent courses they modified the recipe to be respectful. And this did not alter the quality of the superb meal. Each... More

We had a group dinner, the food was interesting. Very fine dining. The chef definitely combined Japanese and French influences into the food.

Axel lived up to the Michelin star tradition. Fusion cuisine with the French touch. Excellent, professional service. Attention to detail ... Special desert for my daughter's 18th birthday. Expensive (especially the Champagne aperitifs!), but not exorbitant for a Michelin star restaurant. If you want the Michelin star experience in the town of one of France's greatest palaces, this is the... More

Started off well and the staff was ok. You're offered the equivalent to a loaf of bread at the beginning! However, note to staff, if you insist on filling the water glasses yourself, you should be more observant. I was disgusted when, after pouring my own water it was whipped out of my hand and taken from the table. Plus... More

The food was well constructed on the whole, though a couple of courses were perhaps not as good as they could have been with some distinct flavours overpowering delicate nature of other parts. The service good, but not impeccable (a little bit to discrete). Desert is by far the best course here, so save room!
