ideal for a casual and informal lunch or dinner

Perfect for a casual dinner or lunch. The service is friendly, the food is carefully prepared and sensibly priced. Ideal location near the Chateau.

Great location: in front of Chateau. Place was empty on Saturday eve...might be warning. Service was very poor - no offerings, no idea whole time what is happenig - must go with every request on bar. Food: very good starter - salad with foi grais. Main course: chicken was below average. Interesting that they forgot to bring one portion (...service)... More

Sadly this is just another one of those restaurants opposite an attraction. The food is average, how anybody thinks blue cheese goes with steak Is beyond me. The menu said beef in a cheese sauce. We were only given a set menu ( €28 ) and I asked for a local bottle of wine and got some expensive vinegar. In... More

The place seems to benefit from the location (you can see the Chateau if you sit on the right spot). Otherwise the location is bad (at a huge roundabout / street), a bit aside the city center. The food is average not bad but I can hardly remember what I had - usually a bad sign. I would go anywhere... More

After a full morning exploring Fontainbleau, our hungry tour group descended upon this restaurant ready for anything. The staff was ready for our large party and we ordered off of a predetermined menu. Our meals were very good. What stood out for us was the quality of the ingredients and, in particular, our Caesar salads were excellent.

We had booked a table for 8 people following a visit of the chateau. The first task once seated was to choose from the complex selection of menus. The main menu offered foie gras on salad - I thought the foie gras was bland personally. The main dish of hake in urchin sauce was really delicious. Desserts were a bit... More

We arrived late and hungry. Good solid bistro classics, oysters, avocados, grilled fish, kidneys in mustard sauce all arrived promptly and well cooked.

Our first day in France we got off the plane, we drove to Fontainebleau, checked into our hotel, and went across the street to Chez Bernard for lunch. We sat outside and had a great view of the castle. The outside area is enclosed with large plastic panels. This is great except when people chain smoke. A woman sat at... More

We were later told that this is a restaurant for locals not tourists, but we were treated like friends and enjoyed a wonderful meal, including very good house wines. The duck was probably the best of our two weeks in France. Great service.

For me – it’s definitely one of the best restaurants in Fontainebleau! Food, service and atmosphere are just great & they do offer something a little bit special that has gone from many of the other restaurants in Fontainebleau. Over the years it’s been discreetly modernized but remains authentic & civilized with a warm atmosphere, plenty of space around the... More
