Lunch for a hungry group.

After a full morning exploring Fontainbleau, our hungry tour group descended upon this restaurant ready for anything. The staff was ready for our large party and we ordered off of a predetermined menu. Our meals were very good. What stood out for us was the quality of the ingredients and, in... read more

The place seems to benefit from the location (you can see the Chateau if you sit on the right spot). Otherwise the location is bad (at a huge roundabout / street), a bit aside the city center. The food is average not bad but I can hardly remember what I had - usually a bad sign. I would go anywhere... More

After a full morning exploring Fontainbleau, our hungry tour group descended upon this restaurant ready for anything. The staff was ready for our large party and we ordered off of a predetermined menu. Our meals were very good. What stood out for us was the quality of the ingredients and, in particular, our Caesar salads were excellent.

We had booked a table for 8 people following a visit of the chateau. The first task once seated was to choose from the complex selection of menus. The main menu offered foie gras on salad - I thought the foie gras was bland personally. The main dish of hake in urchin sauce was really delicious. Desserts were a bit... More

We arrived late and hungry. Good solid bistro classics, oysters, avocados, grilled fish, kidneys in mustard sauce all arrived promptly and well cooked.

Our first day in France we got off the plane, we drove to Fontainebleau, checked into our hotel, and went across the street to Chez Bernard for lunch. We sat outside and had a great view of the castle. The outside area is enclosed with large plastic panels. This is great except when people chain smoke. A woman sat at... More

We were later told that this is a restaurant for locals not tourists, but we were treated like friends and enjoyed a wonderful meal, including very good house wines. The duck was probably the best of our two weeks in France. Great service.

For me – it’s definitely one of the best restaurants in Fontainebleau! Food, service and atmosphere are just great & they do offer something a little bit special that has gone from many of the other restaurants in Fontainebleau. Over the years it’s been discreetly modernized but remains authentic & civilized with a warm atmosphere, plenty of space around the... More

Called in at Chez Bernard for lunch on a trip down memory lane to Fontainebleau with my husband and mum in law. We were greeted warmly and courteously and quickly shown to a lovely table. The dining area had a lovely atmosphere and the jazz music playing really added to the ambience. There was a wonderful choice from the la... More

After visiting the chateau, I took Rick Steves' advice and had lunch here. I had three courses, a mixed salad, the "plate of the day" which was grilled fish, and the profiteroles. Each was amazing. The salad was wonderfully prepared with fresh produce and the oil and vinegar were offered on the side so I could add just what I... More

The restaurant was almost full, but the service was still very good with a nice space between courses to allow one to enjoy each course without rushing. The food was very good , especially the No.2 oysters from Brittany ( we live in Brittany) , the presentation was good. the wine list reasonable, but the house chardonnay is to be... More
