H and I had a Saturday lunch in La Petite Ardoise which is just five minutes walk from the Chateau de Fontainebleau. The restaurant is situated down a side street amongst a host of other restaurants. On the advice of other reviewers, we had pre-booked our table via e-mail and the small dining room was fairly full when we got... More

Staff very good. Starters, we had three; frogs legs, seared duck fois gras and seared scallops were great. My main, entrecote must have been 20 yrs old, as even medium rare was extremely tough! My partners main was fish of the day, well cooked but rice was more like rice pudding. I declined dessert, partner had tart tatain which was... More

My friends and I had a great lunch at La Petite Ardoise this weekend. The service was excellent. Our server was absolutely adorable and attentive, and he was willing to explain some of the local wines to us. I had the fish of the day which was tender and perfectly prepared. One friend had the travers de porc (ribs), and... More

We were really looking forward to trying La Petite Ardoise after the prime listing on tripadvisor. On the plus side, the service was good, the waiter was very friendly, professional & efficient. The let down was the food - it was bland, I had a beef main course, it was chewy & kind of watery, edible but pretty tasteless. During... More

It has been a long time that I had not been to a restaurant due to the reason that now many restaurants just served reheated vacuum-packed or frozen foods. So I called to check with the chef and was told that they do prepare their food. Upon arrival, I was not impressed by the restaurant look, but went in anyway.... More

We always have an awful time picking a restaurant when visiting anywhere, so I like to recon Tripadvisor and pick a top-10; seems to be working well so far! Thanks to all you guys for your reviews! Anyway, this place ranked #2 looked good and reasonably priced. Made a reservation by email on Tuesday for a Saturday night dinner; got... More

A busy little restaurant that serves fresh food attractively presented. The menu is €27 for three courses(or €23 for two) . Gambas l'amoricaine followed by a whole bar with grilled peppers, courgette, aubergine etc was excellent .Its a short menu, thank goodness, indicating the freshness of the produce. The service is excellent. The food is reminicient of our local restaurants... More

We had made a reservation by email, which was a good thing as the restaurant was full (10 tables ?) A menu in English was available. Three course set menu, with choices, was €27, a 46 cl carafe of wine €12. Fish of ghe day was sea bass, and my wife had that, I was envious. We would return.

My wife and I had dinner here while in Fontainebleau on June 1, 2013. This is a very good restaurant with a charming host who speaks enough English to get you through the menu if you don’t speak French. There’s also an “English” menu that the host says he puts together. The food is excellent. We each had a “small... More
