Local Treasure

Loved the town of Fontainebleau! and this little bistro is one of the reasons why. Small plates, fabulous foie gras and escargos, and scallops. Great drinks, a very friendly and accommodating staff and obviously a popular spot with the locals and students from INSEAD.

What an amazing restaurant - my favorite go-to place with friends, family, or to recommend. Products are fresh, price/quality is the best value for money you'll find in Fontainebleau, dishes are scrumptuous and service is always nice. They have a nice selection of wine (served per glass, great for tiny drinkers like me), and their 'oeufs cocottes au fois gras'... More

this great little place is open again after some building works to increase the space and covers. There is an element of fusion food sitting alongside good French classics. Scallop and lamb starters were very good, pork very soft but perhaps could have been more adventurous with more of the background lard et ananas allowed to shine and the chocolate... More

Loved relaxing at Le Petit Ardoise. Always welcoming and always accommodating which is relatively rare in Fontainebleau. If there are scallops on the menu, get them. Always a favorite. But mostly, the service is wonderful.

This small restaurant on a side street not far from the side entrance to Fontainebleau is a real find. The food was excellent. We had all starters with our lunch; exquisite seared fois gras; an order of baked shrimp; and wonderful frogs legs. And the ice cream with dessert was lovely (one scoop chocolate and two scoops vanilla; yum, yum).... More

Tucked down a bustling alleyway lined with cafés and restaurants hides this little gem. Very understated from the outside but very welcoming once you are in. The lady who served us was very friendly and helpful and her English was far better than my French! Very reasonably priced too - I had a beautiful baked duck breast and Jen had... More

H and I had a Saturday lunch in La Petite Ardoise which is just five minutes walk from the Chateau de Fontainebleau. The restaurant is situated down a side street amongst a host of other restaurants. On the advice of other reviewers, we had pre-booked our table via e-mail and the small dining room was fairly full when we got... More

Staff very good. Starters, we had three; frogs legs, seared duck fois gras and seared scallops were great. My main, entrecote must have been 20 yrs old, as even medium rare was extremely tough! My partners main was fish of the day, well cooked but rice was more like rice pudding. I declined dessert, partner had tart tatain which was... More

My friends and I had a great lunch at La Petite Ardoise this weekend. The service was excellent. Our server was absolutely adorable and attentive, and he was willing to explain some of the local wines to us. I had the fish of the day which was tender and perfectly prepared. One friend had the travers de porc (ribs), and... More

We were really looking forward to trying La Petite Ardoise after the prime listing on tripadvisor. On the plus side, the service was good, the waiter was very friendly, professional & efficient. The let down was the food - it was bland, I had a beef main course, it was chewy & kind of watery, edible but pretty tasteless. During... More
