This restaurant was recommended by our taxi driver. It was an easy five minute walk from our hotel and is also on the Tours tram line. We went on a Monday night and we're not disappointed. The 3 course prix fixe meal was delicious. Not expensive ( by Canadian standards) it was around 90 Euros for two including a delicious... More

I had a lunch here for 4 hrs a week ago and after the lunch I was about to die of FOOD. I don't remember how many courses I had, but all I remember is that the foie fras from the entree could stuff you well enough, but after that there's still the main course, 5 types of cheese, pre-dessert,... The experience starts with an amazing aperitif outside on their deck, then the meal really highlights the regions wealth of produce! The lobster and pork were amazing dishes. The grand mariner soufflé was also perfectly executed! The service, provided by quite a young group of staff, was excellent and even though our French leaves a lot to be desired, they... More

Had dinner during our recent visit to Tours. Very near to city centre and has car park at rear of restaurant. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seatings. The amuse bouche was rather not interesting as they served chicken formosa and deep fried stuff that Indian spices. We ordered foie gras and lobster for starters. Very well prepared. For... More

As i discovered it gives the chef an evening off, so you get the same priced menu but cooked by a sous chef and food that is one day older - I may be 50 but I guess I will never learn. Interesting twists inlcude an appertiser before you see the menu - no menu on display ourside and a... More

We ate at Charles Barrier with our children on a two-day stop over in Tours. The restaurant is situated 1km from the north bank of the Loire and central Tours. If you are staying in Tours, take a taxi as the road structure to and from the restaurant isn't straightforward. We were the first to arrive (19:30 booking on a... More

This restaurant evidently has a Michelin star but I'm not sure why. It was a lovely dining room and they did provide outstanding service. But the food was nothing that is memorable. It sounded interesting but tasted bland. My husband had the Gourmand menu which was a number of small courses. All were served with a minimum of sauce or... More

Just great! One of the best restaurants in Tours. Great menu, great wines and champages. The service is sublime. They even speak a bit of English;-). When you want to have an extensive romantic dinner: you have to go to Charles.

We have been to this restaurant several times now on our overnight stay closeby (en route to Spain). While we always look forward to the menu 'Gourmande' we have to say that the atmosphere seems to become more austere and the staff less welcoming each visit. I do admit that our French is very poor and the English spoken at... More
