We ate here based on other TA reviews. A booking is essential. Fabulous food at a reasonable price. Located in the old town it doesn't look much from the out side. Excellent selection on the set course menu.

Booked a table on the web 3 weeks prior and confirmed it a night prior. When we arrived, we're swiftly led to our nice table by the window by a pleasant, all-smiling lady who spoke good English. She politely asked if we preferred the English menu which we said 'yes' instantly. Then we're given sufficient time to study the menu... More

We stopped in Tours overnight on our way home from a couple of excellent weeks near St Emilion and booked in at La Deuvaliere based on the Trip Advisor reviews. We were not dissapointed. A number of people have commented on the quality of the food and it was indeed probably the best meal we had on our holiday. In... More

Having just spent 7 months in Tours I had the opportunity to try many of the popular restaurants. Only two stood out as excellent and La Deauvaliere was one of them. Wonderful food that is very well presented. In particular the set 3 course lunch menu was superb value at 21 euros. The staff were all very friendly and professional... More

The area around Place Plumereau in Tours old town is teeming with eating establishments of all kinds, and we were grateful that we had TripAdvisor reviews to help us to differentiate. We got the last table available for dinner at La Deuvaliere on a Friday evening by phoning in the morning (they apologised that our table would be near the... More

Lots of great food and wine during a wonderful 8 days in France, but this was far and away the best overall experience of the trip. We were fortunate to be seated so that we could watch the kitchen function. Like watching a ballet. The food was fantastic and the service perfect.

I went with a french friend of mine, we had the gourmet menu and it did not disappoint, from my aperitif, starter, main, cheeses, desert and digestif! All were fantastic! The knowledge of the staff was excellent, they knew the food how it's made, the appropriate local wine and made amazing recommendations. All on all I would definitely recommend to... More

Nice atmospheric restaurant in old part of town, seemingly patronised by locals when we visited. We opted for the set dinner menu. Everything was good, scallops, rabbit and steak were excellent. Worth booking as it filled up quickly.

Tried the lunchtime plat du jour and was not disappointed. Good food freshly prepared. Menu was available in English but staff still happy to translate what was available. Waitress recommended an inexpensive but really nice wine.

Set in a tastefully modernised mediaeval building, this restaurant really hits the spot. The atmosphere is nicely relaxed with attentive staff and service at just the right speed. The food is brillliantly thought out. Flavours are subtle, presentation superb and the whole experience puts you in a good frame of mind as you get back onto the street. For this... More
