After an awful day this was the perfect tonic. 55.90 euros for two. Very good main course. Michelin star standard Creme brûlée. Good wine and aperitifs. A bargain. Little wonder this place has survived over a century.

We stumbled upon this place by accident and what a find! Staffed by waiters in formal dress we were the only English speakers there. The food is outstanding. My wife's salmon and my veal were flavours to be remembered for a very long time. All this topped off with a dessert of cooked pineapple of the highest quality Highly recommended

We went to this restaurant twice as part of a Treyn holidays package tour and found the food excellent. although there was no choice. Looking at the meals that independent diners were ordering we would judge the standards to be very high.

Just had dinner here on the recommendation of our Riviera tour manager. What a wonderful choice. Fabulous fish cooked in exciting and different ways- then came the puds. My wife had the raspberry soup with pannacotta and champagne and I had a rum baba the like of which I have never had such pleasure to eat before. Great atmosphere and... More

A very clean, well staffed operation. The service was good, the food and wine was very good all at a reasonable charge. A possible gripe would be that when we returned the next day at a slightly earlier time it was closed, but I would put that down to our stupidity!

during our stay in the Loire Valley we went 4 times in raw to this restaurant. Big choice of Oisters (delicious!!) a good "A la Carte" offer and very nice menus. The staff is very professional and know how to deal with international clientele. Good advise for the local wines, and as a strater we got tasteful bred with beurre... More

At 9.00 at night on Easter Sunday, any open restaurant would have done. But La Chope exceeded expectations. Over 100 years they have clearly learned how to run a restaurant:- a warm welcome, friendly service, classy menu majoring (but not exclusively) on seafood, reasonably priced classic wines. The food was not cheap; but neither was it excessive. Don't expect Michelin... More

At 10:30 at night it's not easy to find places that will serve you food. The restaurant said outside that it served a smaller menu after 10:00 pm, but in fact we could have had anything. We both chose from the daily specials, I had fish and my husband had chicken, both absolutely delicious. We only had the one course... More
