Well worth a visit

Visited here twice, once as part of a large group and then as couple. On both occasions food and service was excellent. Gets very busy with tour parties so recommend reserving table or arriving there early evening.

Lovely food, great service and a superb atmosphere. Staff were very polite and friendly. You felt quite special. Would go again when visiting Tours.

We dined here on our second night of our stay in Tours, it was fantastic. Food and service excellent. Fish was superb. Highly recommend trying this restaurant - not in the main eateries area in the city but well worth the walk. Definitely eat here again when we are in Tours.

Our tour group offered this restaurant as an optional dinner at about 130 euro for the two of us, I was extremely disappointed. After reading the glowing reviews, I have to assume we were treated poorly because we were a tour group. We had three choices for each of a starter, main and dessert. For a starter I had the... I stumbled across this place while in Tours a few weeks ago. My son and I had a wonderful meal. In fact it was one of his highlights of the entire trip. The seafood is extremely fresh, it's prepared well and service is outstanding.

Given the chaos on the Dover Calais route, I decided to travel Newhaven/ Dieppe via Tours to my house near Bergerac, stopping off in the Charente with some dear friends on the way. I stayed overnight in Tours at the Hotel Mirabeau-see separate review-which although perfectly satisfactory didn’t compare with my regular overnight spot at the Chateau de Bouesse in... More

My wife have been going to La Chope Restaurant several times a year for the last 20 years having actually dined in French restaurants for over fifty years. The current owners are outstanding in that the chef is French, his wife who is front of house is English (and speaks fluent French) and their staff are also very good, providing... More

We ate there two nights running and thought the food was excellent. Thankfully it was about the only classic French restaurant near to our hotel on an otherwise dull trip. First impressions were good with starched white table cloths. Lots of people eating massive fruit de mer, but that's not for me. I had the fish of the day on... More

Very big restaurant, pretty informal, where it's possible to eat standard courses. Food, service and price in the average.

In Tours for the (very good) Vitiloire wine fair, this was an ideal restaurant for lunch. The dishes were all excellent, with a special mention for the fish. Oysters were excellent quality and the service was friendly and attentive. To be repeated.
