Best meal in France

We were in Chinon on New Year's Day and looking for somewhere to eat. We stumbled across La Part des Anges and we're thankful to get a meal because there was very little open on New Year's Day. To put it simply it was the best meal that we had in France for four weeks. Great food and good... read more

Unless there is a kitchen hidden away elsewhere unknown to me, I am convinced magic is involved in this restaurant; otherwise, how could such fantastic food and service be delivered from the tiny space I saw?!? Physical kitchen logistics aside, however and wherever they do it, they do it well. Our meals were terrific in all ways. My entrée was... More

This is an outstanding little restaurant, by far the best in or around Chinon. The atmosphere is low-key, quiet, and pleasant, the wine list features regional wines at a reasonable price, and the food is excellent. The owner-chef, Virginia, works wonders in a small kitchen off the dining room, offering only fresh, locally sourced food, with layers of flavor, presented... More

We went on a recommendation; we were looking for classical french food in Chinon. It was a very intimate experience, and the waiter was very attentive, the chef looked passionate. You could definitely tell they took a lot of pride in their food and tried to throw themselves into it. HOWEVER, the fowl was so unfresh I literally could not... More

We had an excellent meal here. Virginia works miracles in her small kitchen. Relaxed atmosphere and very welcoming.

We were lucky enough to get a table without reservation on a quiet Wednesday night, though the restaurant did fill up rather quickly after that, and later potential diners were turned away. Intimate (ie small) restaurant with lovely food selected from an astonishingly good value 3 course menu for just €23. Beautifully cooked food from an admittedly small selection of... More

I would like to reiterate the advice of the other reviews - book ahead or else there is a very high chance of being turn away. The couple who ran this restaurant are very welcoming and the food cooked in the tiny kitchen by the lovely young chef , Virginie was very good. We were there on a Thursday night... More

Make reservations (Virginie, chef and owner, is fluent in English). Delicious food, local wines, excellent service from Herve (waiter and owner).

We can see why this restaurant needs to be booked in advance: it's a small husband-wife establishment who are passionate about their business. Service was impeccable, food beautifully presented with only fresh local produce. For a main, I had perfectly cooked monkfish (I had it again the next day at the fish restaurant Oceanic, and was so disappointed that it... More
