Bright restaurant, friendly staff

Very welcoming staff to this casual, bright restaurant. large windows look out on the medieval street. Great meal, good wine, nice experience.

On vacation in the Loire Valley with friends, we stumbled upon Le Cafe des Arts in a nice little plaza in Chinon after a morning of visiting chateaux. What a find. We figured it would be pretty good since a nearby table was filled with priests. And if it wasn't, they were close for last rites! I had Lamb sweetbreads... More

A very good meal had here, burgers aux café des arts and magret de canard, all cooked well and tasty. I'm mean with my stars, 5 is michelin standard, 4 is almost there, and 3 is bloody good.

Le Cafe des Arts, with its large outdoor seating area in the center of town, has a festive and low-key romantic atmosphere. I ate dinner here twice, the first evening with my 20-year-old daughter, and we each had just a main dish salad and a glass of wine. The salads at this restaurant were more reminiscent of those we find... More

One member of our group was desperately hungry, so this was a bit of a rushed choice for lunch one day, but it turned out great. All four of us were very pleased with our meals. Lots of local ingredients - cheese, meats, etc. A glass of local Chinon wine was tasty and very reasonably priced. The location - on... More

After eating some of the best French food all around the country, I wanted to see how they would fix a hamburger. After eating great steaks from Kansas City to hamburgers in Napa Valley, my interest was peaked. Le Café des Arts did not disappoint. It was cooked to perfection with sautéed onions which melted in ones mouth. With a... More

A wonderful location on a shaded square, but the worst food we had in France. Expensive too. Don't bother there re many others better

We ate here twice during our recent trip to Chinon, taking a table in the square outside the restaurant. If you're a meat eater you won't be disappointed. My terrine starter was huge and accompanied with some glazed bacon and sliced cold ham. The duck breast main was also very good. Service was efficient and friendly.

Looked like a nice time restaurant , nice outdoor seating , but it took some time before one of the 3 staff members saw me ( i was luckier than another couple who i think waited 30mins before they could order their meals ) . But what ruined my experience here was that in the menu they spoke of riz-de... More

One of very few places open on a Sunday evening. Menu was OK but our food was cold. Service was reasonable but given that other places were shut they seemed over whelmed by numbers.
