We ordered the lunch formule. 14.5 euros for 3 courses, all decent. Portions were generous for France. Wine was a little expensive. The location is good, near the stairs to the fortress and overlooking the fountain in the main square.

This is a great little cafe set downtown Chinon in Place Général de Gaulle, next to the courthouse. It is ideally situated if you want to take the stairs and or elevator down from the Chinon castle to have a great lunch in the square. Service was fast and friendly. Kids were able to be entertained and we enjoyed a...

We ate here in 2010. Very nice staff, we were a large group and all had one menu but main course turned out to be something I was allergic to. Staff never hesitated to give me something else.
My family and I ate here in mid-October of 2012 and had a great lunch. The weather had just turned a little chilly, but it was still nice enough to sit out in the square. It's a great place to people-watch and hang out for an extended period of time. The food was good, and the service was about the...

I would definitely eat there again, good food and coffee, clean restaurant with nice outside seating on a pretty Place Général de Gaulle right in the centre of Chinon, a very pretty town, with lovely local wines, a pretty river to walk along, a lovely old part of town and some interesting shops. The Café des Arts also has some...

We had lunch in the sun on the last day of September. What a treat, and the food and wine were good too. We chose the Formule (excellent value for three courses) and the duck was cooked perfectly and came with a fine selection of vegetables. Service was quick and efficient. Will go back. Not open wednesdays.
We were here on a Thursday night late in September. It certainly wasn't lively but I don't think anything was in Chinin that night. It was lovely weather and we sat outside..the only dining guests who did! The service was efficient and quick and helped us with our bad French. The wine the waiter recommended was lively and a reasonable...

Had a lovely lunch outside in the square on a market day. We picked a couple of salads which were delicious and bountiful! The rose wine which we had with them was delicate but fruity - a perfect accompaniment. The service was excellent - friendly and attentive. Would eat here again.
As a fun and lively place to start a holiday in France this is great , tables under the trees in the centre of the square. The food isn't gourmet but our hake was tasty and well cooked the goats cheese salad was good too. We just had a mid price set menu and a local wine and it was...

Have been here for lunch number of times as really liked moules et frites after a wander round the Thursday market. Since last year it's had a refurb and changed the menu which is now more limited for choice and no more moules.
We went on a Saturday night with my sister & her husband who were over staying with...
