Just Cappuccinos

Although we only had coffee, felt that it was worthy of a review. The cappuccinos served are the best we've tasted since arriving in France, just fantastique!! They certainly rival any we have tasted in Italy. The service was spot on, lovely waiters, courteous and smiley. On our next visit we will... read more

We stopped here for lunch. We sat outside on the village square, which is a very pretty setting. I had the baked cod with vegetables in a tasty white cream sauce. It was very good. I also tasted their hamburger. It was excellent. The service may not have been great, but considering it was the height of lunchtime in a... More

Pros: Nice setting on the square and friendly (but slow service). Cons: poor food. This was one of the only options on a Monday night. I had tough, chewy duck. My daughter had really tough steak. Should have had a salad - those looked decent.

Started to eat at Au Chapeau Rouge but the service there was so bad that my wife and I decided to take our business next door to Le Cafe des Arts. My wife had steak frites and I had a hamburger after both of us ordered good-sized salads. (Sounds like boring choices but that is what we wanted.) Waiter recommended... More

Sat down and waited and waited and waited. Caught the waitresses eye and she acknowledged me but still did not arrive and take our order. Went into the bar restaurant itself and spoke to another member of staff who said he could not serve me as he served drinks only. Eventually the manager with glasses and red trouser arrived at... This was basically the only restaurant open on Sunday in Chinon. The food was mediocre. We had a fish dish and lamb dish. Both were forgettable. They did have burgers which might have been a safer choice. There were also salads on the menu. Additionally it was expensive for what we got.

This was a bistro cafe in a little square, very busy and lots of activities going on. Waiters were efficient and quick, very friendly, regardless of nationality. Food was excellent, well presented and reasonably priced. Waiter/ owner very helpful with the Rose wines. Great atmosphere, for people watching.

Bigger than it looks from outside. Pleasant modern decor, good food, reasonable service, acceptable prices. We enjoyed our meal.

Great cafe in the square. Lovely place to order a coffee or Vin and watch the world go by. The staff have always been pleasant and the service good. Great coffee!

On a positive note...The front of house staff were working extremely hard the night we visited and were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The only other reason I can think of for recommending a visit here is to see how far behind the comparative UK establishment ( or even Greek equivalent) some French bistros have fallen. I could go on at... More
