A busy place - for good reason!

We were in Chartres on a quiet Friday night - very few people in the square. We chose La Picoterie because it's highly recommended by TripAdvisor reviewers and Rick Steves. We visited during the lights festival weekend of July 17, 2015. This place was packed but not because of fine food - mostly because everywhere was rammed due to the light festival. It was so packed in there that we had to stack 2 chairs, move our table into the gap and shinny like a thin thing past loads of other... More

The food was well presented and very tasty. Service was very friendly and efficient. For a quick and good lunch it is a very good spot.

My wife had the salmon and I had the ham, mushroom and ementhal gallette. Excellent. Very friendly server who also took up the challenge to entertain my French, and to assist with my education--with a smile. The dessert crepes were outstanding--crepe Helene, and crepe flambé. My birthday, and couldn't have been more ideal!

Knew we were visiting the Cathedral, so I looked up well-rated places nearby for lunch. This definitely filled the bill. NIce outdoor seating area, with a view of the Cathedral. Great crepes, but other choices as well. Ample indoor seating too. Quick and friendly service.

This is a super place to get some outstanding savour buckwheat pancakes - the list of choices is so vast I could not choose. The salads also great. The staff are friendly and the place feels good. Definitely worth a visit.

It was a very hot day, and we felt in the need for some fresh salad. Our hotel recommended this restaurant to us and booked us a table, and boy are we glad they did! Not only would we not have got in - people were queuing outside - but we would have missed out on some of the best... More

We stopped here because of TA reviews and were not disappointed. The experience starts as you begin to enter and the staff comes to the front door to greet you. Only time that happened in France. I had the french onion soup, a seafood galette and a dessert crepe. My wife had a sausage crepe and salad with dessert of... More

We didn't have a reservation on a friday evening so we sat outside. This turned out to be a great thing as we were able to enjoy the neighborhood "theater" that was going on up and down the street. The food was excellent, especially the desserts.

great decor - very country French. The crepe was ok, the cost was higher than similar places. the odd thing was that tables do not have any space between them so there was a waiter who moves each table to let customers in and out
