We stumbled on Le Castelet after finding that the restaurant next door had closed. Fortunately we turned up early and were accommodated (later arrivals were sent packing as LC was booked out by locals). The carte is extensive with a plate by plate choice and then two choices of menu that also offered a fair bit of choice. We tried... More

We pre booked which turned out to be essential on a Saturday. They were very busy and our initial reaction was not good. We waited over 40 minutes before our order was taken. However the food was very different from a "standard" menu and tasted very good. And it was not over priced. Set in an old part of town... More

To its credit this restaurant has a vegetarian menu, almost unknown in France! It is located in a very old building in the centre of Blois and the service was charming and efficient. My husband was slightly disappointed with his pork main course, but my salmon was beautifully cooked. There is a fashion for "crumble" desserts and patisserie in France... More

Monday and people turned away. Friendly and chatty service altho slow. No one seemed to mind. Old authentic decor w old frieze on stairs wall. Nice discounted bottle of touraine Rabelais red (lighting) and stout food. Presentation and seasoning could have been better and three bean veg accompaniment was a bit stewed. But all part of a good days paddling... More

Recommended by the hotel as it is open on a Monday night, as finding restaurants that are open on Monday's can be a problem. It took some finding, but worth the effort. A traditional restaurant in the old part of the town, with good service, and nice choices. Very busy, but maybe because it was Monday. The food was above... More

Visited on a week day evening during a week long Loire valley holiday. The positives were the service was very nice and the starters very tasty. Also the chocolate mouse very good. The place was quite old fashioned and the cuisine reflected that. My main course a very heavy pork and bean dish and one disappointing vegetarian main course which... More

Le Castelet is a lovely restaurant tucked in a lovely old part of Blois. The meal we had there was home food style, but beautifully cooked and presented with quality ingredients and bags of flavour. Excellent service too. Would definitely recommend.

Managed to get a table here by booking late afternoon, having watched the stream of people who were disappointed through the evening we did well. Food was very nice, not too expensive for a main street in the tourist season, fabulous creme brulee!

This may be number #10 on TA, but it blew away the #3 in Blois,L'appart'the, for a mere $5 extra per person. See my review on L'apparthe for my adivce to avoid it. Now back to Le Castelet: Strange that the reviews all mention a 3 person family operation, where the husband "explains the entire menu to you", as he... More

The owner was very helpful translating the menu and we ordered a goat cheese salad and veal with vouvray. Both were very good. The veal was tender and delicious.
