Wonderful Meal

The restaurant was probably the most formal we dined in during our trip -- almost intimidating. No English was spoken, but the servers were gracious and helpful. The food was outstanding, and beautifully presented....

Weather permitting, sit outside in the garden under the stars. Everything was perfect about this gem of a restaurant. I had a mixed salad and sea bass, plus a lovely glass of red wine. Food was beautifully presented, creative and absolutely delicious. Make a reservation in advance.

3 course menu - order aperitif and get a really good amuse bouche. The menu is quite clear - amuse bouche only arrives with aperitif. But as aperitifs are good value anyway - this is little imposition. We ate on a Thursday night. Had a really good meal. Can recommend.

Very good food served in an outdoor garden surrounded by plants and flowers. This is not for fast dining, rather, take the time to enjoy all that the restaurant has to offer. Also, save some room for the cheeses at the end of the dinner.

this is a wonderful place for sunday lunch. the weather was lovely so we ate outdoors. and like all good sunday lunches we took our time. (we walked over to chateau azay le rideau for the rest of the afternoon). wine list was exceptional with local wines reasonably priced (we had just been to a wine fair the day before... More

This restaurant is exactly what it should be, and has great food and a very good wine list which includes a great selection of old vintages of Vouvray, some from producers that don't exist anymore. The food is traditional and old-fashioned, without being overly imaginative. The proprietors are very welcoming. There is no outdoor seating, so maybe it is better... More

Thoroughly enjoyable, a lovely proprietor-run restaurant with la patronne at front of house and her husband in the kitchen. She told us they have been there 23 years and the experience showed. In fact better than a meal at a Michelin-starred restaurant we took on the same trip. A good choice of food including plenty of fish, and an excellent... More

To celebrate the brunette's 40th we decided to go back to this restaurant we were ate a few weeks after we met, 17 years ago. That night's meal was, by far, the best we'd ever had in our young, inexperienced lives. I've given the 4 stars because of the wife's meal. Mine was a three-starrer. (She always wins!) My creme... You need the inside line - from locals or TripAdvisor - to find this establishment which appears unremarkable and is easy to overlook from the street. However, the minute you walk inside you get a feel of real quality, and what followed underscored this. To start with this is a restaurant for the wine lover, who will probably need 15... More

We had a very good dinner on the terrace of this charming restaurant. All the dishes from the entrée to the desserts were delicious, well presented. The wine, Chinon of course, was excellent. The service was efficient and polite (though on that evening they were far from full). There's ample choice of restaurants in this highly touristic region of Chateaux... More
