I could tell you about the lovely surroundings, professional service and superb food, for which I could give a course by course description, but the overall experience can be summed up in one word ... excellent! First, I'll say it is a very popular restaurant. We stayed at the Chateau (possibly our favorite hotel that we stayed in during our 2 week visit) and could not get a reservation. The restaurant gods must have been smiling on us as a reservation became available. Everything is quite formal in that Michelin star kind of way. They try... More

Stayed in Amboise for a few days and all the locals told me this was one to try, and we were not disappointed! The food is every bit as good as a two star but not as expensive and the setting on the terrace was excellent! Everything is more relaxed and friendly...leave your coat and tie at home! Highly recommended!

When Michelin gave this restaurant one star, it had to be a joke and a test to see if anyone reads their Guide. It took three and a half hours to serve three courses of an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. The food had no taste. The presentation was absent. A plate was chipped. The chef’s name was to be found... We celebrated my husband's 60th birthday with three nights stay at the lovely Chateau de Pray and its Michelin restaurant. The staff at both the Restaurant and accommodation are outstanding. This was one of the highlights of our two and a half month stay in France.

Neither the previous reviews (nor even pictures) do this wonderful restaurant justice. To begin, the restaurant is set literally within the side of a limestone cliff which is typical of the region and the winemaking. The surrounding chateau seems beautiful, though we were not guests. (The restaurant is an easy 10 minute drive from Amboise, where we were staying.) The... More

More prentious than it really is. Had a main and desert but had to wait for over an hour before the main finally came. Guess the wait killed the appetite. The lobster was good if not very good but the veal was average. The desert was so so too. Not too much to write about.guess was taken in more by... More

Really disappointing. It doesn't worth the value. Facts: 1) Although mentioned in the menu, they didn't have the dish ordered (I haven't ordered something really unusual but just green asparagus for starter and they did in have it) . 2) average meal with no superior taste. Veal can be found in any restaurant in the region. 3)long time waiting to... More

We loved our stay at this beautiful hotel. Although it is away from the central part of town, you don't have to go far for divine food & wine with the onsite restaurant. The hotel has a great historic atmosphere, rooms a spacious and clean.

I travel a lot and eat at a lot of restaurants. I cannot recall when I have had a finer meal than the one my wife and I had at Chateau de Pray. Service was impeccable and not pretentious. View from our table of the grounds and valley below were amazing. Wine advice was spot on. And the food was... More
