We are not gourmet diners. Having said that we certainly arrived on the right night after an 8 year absence. We were seated same table looking out at the chateau. Food was good, service quick. For French Italian food this restaurant is just fine.

We went out hungry and tired and stopped in for an easy comfort food meal because the menu looked like it had what we wanted. The vegetable soup was bland and thin. The spaghetti bolognaise was also bland and needed lots of salt and Parmesan to eat it. And it had no extra sauce to enjoy with the multitude of... More

The front was full so we were ushered to the back which was still a nice courtyard, although no views on the chateau or passers by, but our first impressions were of a pretty angry waitress, not just cultural differences either as a French couple walked out after a few minutes. Food was average, but I had a steak which... More

Another of the many restaurants facing the chateau in Amboise. We sat outside watching in the sun go down over the chateau and people walking by. The food is fine, tasty and decent portions but probably catering for hungry tourists wanting something other than french rather than trying to compete as a high end Italian restaurant. The service was fast... More

If you are interested in eating something, please do yourself a favour and find another place. The surrounding is beautiful and the service is ok however the food is poorly made. We had a salad, tomato pasta and a pizza. Also the tiramisu desert was disgusting. Sorry guys, but this is no good. Hope you find something better :)

Service here was great, pizza tasty and the desserts very good. A good choice of wine at reasonable price too. We ate upstairs which is a lovely old room with view across to the chateau.

We dropped into this restaurant after strolling around the town centre. Four of us had pasta and pizza. It was decent, but nothing special. Basic touristy Italian food. Good, fast, friendly service.

Really nice Neapolitan style pizza (not sure why it was La Florentine, perhaps we should have tried some of the other mains!) but it certainly hit the spot after a long day of driving and visiting castles. Wish we had a place like this in Hong Kong!

My husband and I stayed in Amboise for 3 nights in Sept. 2011, and we ate dinner at La Florentine all 3 nights. We ate there the first night on a whim, since we did not arrive until around 8:30pm, and there were only a few restaurants on the main drag near the Chateau still open. However, we really enjoyed... Amboise was disappointing when it comes to dining.... several poor spots including the low-end tourist-oriented cafes along Place Michel Debre and one or two gems (Le Pavillon de Lys). I'd put La Florentine in the former group. Pizza to go seemed to be a big part of its business. We sat outside and the pizza wasn't bad but i) we... More
