No better place to watch and watch the world go by.......

This was my second visit to Patisserie Bigot, I returned as it was so good the first time a few years ago. We managed to get a table outside which is perfect for watching the centre of Amboise go about its business. We both started with some small freshly cooked tarts and then had to make the... read more

We had lunch at Bigot as part of a day long tour of the Loire chateaux. The quiche was excellent as were the greens, and I walked away with a lovely pistachio macaron. Be sure to go into the bakery to look at the lovely cakes and pastries.

This is a favourite breakfast haunt when we're travelling through the Loire. There is nothing exceptional about the cafe itself but just that nice combination of outside seating sat in the sun overlooking the busting Place Michel Debre and the towering Amboise Chateau, a traditional family run patisserie and a good variety of simple breakfast combos.

We stopped for some ice cream which was very nice. I tried out my French only to find the nice lady on the till spoke perfect English. She was pleased that I'd made the effort though. We sat down while we ate our ice cream until a very rude waitress demanded that we leave as it's their rule that you... More

Madame Bigot is a family owned and runner business. Beginning as a chocolate shop. It had expanded over the years to become a bakery and a cafe. There is not a wide selection of entrees but what they offer is wonderful. Over the years (this was our 12 visit), I have savor end their omelette (at least three eggs) and... More

Stopped here for lunch before visiting the chateaux as its at the base of it. Had a very nice salad with bacon, boiled eggs and croutons. Inside and outside seating, the staff spoke English. Good size portions, decent value for money considering its in a tourist spot.

PROS: - ambiance - good food/many choices ( not surprising for France ;) ) - home-made candies! CONS: - none

The patisserie is a community favorite, but the pastries are not particularly good. I still like the people watching from a prime location. Nice staff.

Not only sweet treats and patisserie. This great bakery also has savory dishes, such as quiche, that can make a quick and delicious lunch ( I recommend the quiche with pork, can't remember the exact name). Great selection of ice cream and sorbets.
