Right on the corner with a great view of the Castle, ideal for watching the world go by with fantastic pastries and good coffee, went there most days

We stopped in here while we were on a cycling tour through the Loire valley. The lovely lady behind the counter explained the history of the store as well as a description for the various truffles. We bought a very nice sampling. Just as I suspected, not a bad one in the bunch. Definitely worth the splurge.

Bigot has been around for over a century and has an unrivalled situation looking up at the castle of Amboise. It is essentially a patisserie which serves its own high quality products. Sitting outside in the two rows of tables having breakfast on a sunny summer's morning is unforgettable. Decent service from waitresses with old-fashioned pinnies, good cafetiere coffee and... More

Being a resident of the town, I don't do many of the touristy things, but this morning I took time to go to Bigot for breakfast on my way to work. It was a really lovely way to start the day. Coffee and croissant whilst watching the world go by. The croissant was really good as was the coffee and... More

Situated at the bottom of what I'd call the main street, which leads up past the castle, you can sit in the sun and watch the world pass by. We sat outside in the sunshine on several mornings, and enjoyed breakfast whilst Amboise woke up. The coffee was French press, so a little grimey as to be expected, and it... More

This gorgeous traditional patisserie/chocolatier is located on the opposite corner to the ramp that leads up to the entrance of Amboise Castle and it is where we enjoyed both chocolate and desserts. We realised it closed early when we came looking for dessert after dinner on night one and we learnt our lesson the hard way so we had dessert... More

We did the chocolaterie talk in a neighbouring building and loved the samples and the simple explanations as to the origins of chocolate. Delicious! We then went back to the patisserie and sat down with a drink and a pastry. Well worth a visit. The establishment is in a prime setting next to the château.

This little Patisserie had the most wonderful desserts and we ate there three times during our weeklong stay in Amboise. The ice-cream sundaes are divine! The quiche and salad combo was delicious. I must add that this is a great place to enjoy a snack and people watch. It is one of the only places that does not require a... More

This is a lovely spot down at the front of Amboise. The pastries are gorgeous and the coffee is tasty. There is a lovely lady who served us both times we were there- she was always busy but was helpful and happy and chatty. She made the place really. The first day we popped in was after visiting the chateau... More

I see there are several reviews of the food. I can tell you the locals do not eat here for the meals. First, you must spend time in the Loire Valley and Amboise in particular. See the royal chateau and Clos Luce, where di Vinci spent his last years. Then take a break and go to Madame Bigots for pastries.... More
