Good basic food - salads, burgers and French dishes. Not gastronomic - just casual fare. Service was fairly prompt and done with a warm friendly demeanor.
We stopped there in a rainy Monday. It's was busy, we got seated, it took a while to get to us we ordered. I ordered vegetable soup and a mini burger. My soup was carrot only, and not of a taste, I had to add a lot if salt and pepper. My mini burger was suppose to be medium, but... More
Please avoid, while there were two nice waiters, we had a long haired blonde lady who was horrible - to everyone, not just us. Food is very average also. We ended up paying for two coffees instead of one - lots of apologies but given the rest of the evening, maybe it wasn't a mistake?
We arrived too late to book a table for dinner at the chateau we were staying in so decided to eat in Amboise. We wandered along the river and then up and down the main street. Chez Hippeau is just off the main street with a delightful courtyard next to the church. The atmosphere, sitting in the late evening sun,... More
I dined here recently while on a tour of French chateaux. I had the seafood salad which had a wonderful variety of fresh seafood and was quite filling. For dessert, I ordered the tarte tatin which was amazing, and still steaming as it was brought to the table. I can definitely see why this place attracts such as large local... More
A pleasant brasserie with an interesting selection of food. Normal burger type meals, but some different salads. Pleasant staff. I had salad with burger, toasted goat's cheese and a poached egg! Together with a beer and coffee €19.
We cam from Tours for the day out. The Tourist Information suggested that this would be a delightful place to visit. So glad we did. Decided that seeing as we left late that we would start out with lunch and as we walked over the bridge it was right in front of us. So in we went. There was a... More
Restaurant almost on the river, whereas the majority of restaurants throng the main street. The service was pleasant, and the entrée excellent. Large fresh salad was good, with fresh croutons, breaded chicken and lots of parmesan. Would have been put off by many negative reviews, had I read them beforehand! Pleased we didn't, as our experience was good.
I was treated so badly at this place, when I informed the waiter I had received the wrong drink, which i waited 10 minutes for despite me communicating in French he pretended I didn't understand, argued with me then walked off swearing. He then came back and told me I was right it was the other waiters fault..you reckon? ..they... More
Average salads - more than average service - ugly virgin mojitos - only thing : nice terrasse outside by a small church
