We got to Amboise and went directly to the castle. Couple of minutes later a heavy rain started falling and we had to go somewhere, for no particular reason we chose this place and boy, we chose wisely. The place has an excellent location - between the La Loire river and the Amboise castle. The waiter was very kind and... More

As per previous reviews this one is best missed, we had very average to poor meal served by staff who just could not care - very sad as location is great. Other night we ate at cheap bar 100m along the road away from Chateau that despite appearances was great. Lovely town and lots of better choices for food.

Friendly if slow service in a cramped, canteen like, dining room. Food was OK but in view of the environment we left after one course. Avoid, there are better places within a few minutes walk.

A quiet restaurant just off the side of the Chateau Amboise. There is a fairly good selection of salads as well as full course meals. The grande salads are very large and tasty. For a real treat follow your meal with a great dessert. We recommend the Pain Perdu. Staff are friendly and speak English. This restaurant is a good... More

Very nice place very close to the castle (but not directly across from the entrance) We sat inside their very lovely and sunny dining area and had some amazing beef tartar and delicious wine. Highly recommended!

My wife and I had the € 23 set menu and were very happy with both the food and service. In particular the young man who served us was very helpful with both the translations as well as the prompt service. The meals were by tasty and different and the atmosphere outside was great. For Australians who are not renowned... More

This is one to avoid. Despite a nice setting with an interesting menu the food and service are not good enough and are frankly poor quality. There are better options available a few yards further up the same street.

After a day spent visiting the castle and Da Vinci's house, we really hoped in a classic french brasserie to taste something of the place. First of all they quote on a chalkboard outside the restaurant '30 minutes express service'. We understood later that it means '30 minutes to have first course'. Service poor, slow, wine was served only with... More

This is the first restaurant on the road up to the chateau, just walk past. The quality isn't good no matter what it says outside. The are far better ones to go to.

the place was nice ; traditional onion soup , very good ; a hippo burger which was made of good minced meat, melted Camembert and a gentle tasting strips of beacon . The ceasar salad was plenty , but average . the was some doing with the waiters and the seating which was a little annoying .
