Very strong, country restaurant. Food produced with great skill. Good value, great service. Well chosen wine list, although some of the local reds are "challenging" to say the least -- stick to white wines from the Loire or go to the Bordeaux or Burgundy Section.

We had a fabulous dinner here. We took the 21 euro set menu and it greatly exceeded our expectations. Fabulous fish tartare for me and terrine fois gras for my husband. Both delicious. Lovely trout with risotto main, husband's pork fillet Mignon also excellent. Desserts were works of art, almost too pretty to eat. The dining room is quite formal... More

A French friend suggested we try this restaurant at the foot of the Royal Chateau and we luckily found space for the midday meal. We chose the menu which we found to be very good, especially the entree of sea trout served with gingered caramel butter. The service was very friendly and competent and we were given excellent suggestions for... More

We went to Le Lion d'Or for lunch with some friends of ours and had a most amazing meal. The restaurant is modern and inviting and the staff very friendly. The meals were cooked to perfection and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Would not be surprised to see a star awarded to the restaurant in the future. For those... More

Dinner here on a Saturday night. From the outside I expected a traditional dining area but instead we entered a very modern setting. The large room we were seated in was full of French families/couples enjoying a night out. Service was warm and friendly even though neither my wife nor I speak any French. All of the staff made an... More

False! Everything is false there. VERY expensive, food in small portions in enourmous plates. Quite unsufficient, no doubt meant to make you order more as after the starter and 'main course' you are still hungry. Ambiance fake. Ugly, horrible copies of supposedly French furniture. Waiters condescendent. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Pleasant Room & Service, with excellent cuisine at very reasonable prices in Amboise; What else to say, except that one must go for it.

We loved this restaurant. The food was imaginative and delicious, which is the main thing that we are looking for. In addition the service was solid with good wine recommendations and the setting just lovely. I would definitely return and look forward to doing so soon.

After having heard many good things about this restaurant, we were disappointed by its very forgettable food and cold ambience. The shrimp and avocado appetizer was completely tasteless and the rest of the meal was only slightly better.

This is a great place to eat in Amboise. Everything was very delicious. The cooking was very genuinely french with incredible oer d'hoeuvres and desserts. Don't miss this.
