Good food, amazing value!

We ate here on our first night in Amboise and enjoyed it very much. We got great service, a very nice meal and couldn't have more pleased by the prices. The fixed price menus are an incredible bargain compared to the high quality of the food and the wine list had a very nice selection of... read more

This is a lovely restaurant , friendly staff, interesting traditional French menu. I ordered the "fish of the day" and I could smell it coming! It was truly inedible and I'm not squeamish or fussy. My husband insisted in speaking to the waitress who said it was " pigs tripe" beside the fish.... and yes it was smelly, but traditional.... More

Flies flying around, very hot in the restaurant despite an air con. Spider webs in the lamp shades over our table. Food not very appealing after seeing flies...

While staying a few nights in Amboise in June it was our 41st wedding anniversary. A few months earlier I had asked the hotel we were staying at to recommend a nearby restaurant. They recommended Le Lior D’Or on Quai Charles Guinot which was about 10 minutes’ walk away. I made a reservation via the internet for their main restaurant.... More

Recommended by out hotel, we really enjoyed this dinner tremendously. While the service was very formal, the dress was not and the atmosphere was relaxed. I absolutely LOVED my appetizer of chilled white asparagus soup with goat cheese "ice cream" in the middle. The Duck was delicious. We also highly recommend the cheese cart -- it was so difficult to... More

Why are they so glum? The food is good. A lot of effort went into it. The prices are a bargain. The wait staff could be friendlier. This should be a showplace, but it isn't now.

The service was outstanding, prompt efficient and pleasant. They fitted us in after a muddled up booking by Loire Valley travel. The food was delicious, particularly the entree of prawns, and the wine.

We had an amazing meal here, probably the best while in France. The quality was first class and well worth the money.

My husband and I had dinner here during our two night stay in Amboise upon recommendation from TA and a women's tour leader. It was also on the list recommended by our hotel. The room was traditional and quite pretty. Service was very good and prices fair but the meal was not too good. My husbands duck was nearly raw... More

Situated under the Chateau Amboise, the restaurant was in a beautiful room, with subtle decor. We were given a free taster, followed by a beautifully presented 3-course, with lots of lovely food to satisfy smaller and larger appetites. Fixed price menu very reasonable for such a quality place. Not in the main area so easily missed.
