We were pleasantly surprised with the quality & the taste of the meal . The service was most friendly & quick. We ordered fish, which was made to perfection. This was probably one of our best meals we had in France, since we do not eat meat, this was a great treat for us.

This restaurant has an excellent atmosphere. It is traditionally decorated in an appealing way and the staff is very friendly and well trained. We dined on the shrimp in whiskey sauce which was a delicious choice. The shrimp were huge and expertly prepared and presented. They also had a nice wine selection. We reserved early for dinner as we happened... More

We were lucky in getting a table without booking but as France were playing in the world cup there were empty tables! Having chosen to eat outside we had an excellent three course dinner, sharing a starter of snails, then tornedos and finishing with chocolate fondant & nougat glace. We could not fault the food nor the excellent local wine.... More

The food was very nice and the service was friendly and efficient. The menu had a nice variety of items to order. There is an English menu available and all the staff spoke excellent English.

We had dinner at L'Epicerie in early June. We showed up at 7 and got a table (didn't have a reservation) but soon the restaurant started to fill up - so either book or go there early. The food was very nice, my onion soup as a starter was actually excellent, very mellow and flavoursome. The service was also very... More

My husband and I ate here for dinner while we were in Amboise, and had an enjoyable, if not spectacular, meal. I very much got the feel that the restaurant caters to foreign tourists, since the menu seemed to favor more heavy beef dishes than what I was used to seeing in France. That said, the staff was very welcoming,... More

We came to Amboise directly from Paris, and we were happily shocked to discover that we could treat ourselves to a gourmet meal here for about the same price as a bottle of wine in a Paris restaurant. We booked a dinner reservation here a day in advance (highly recommended - others were turned away the night we came). The... More

Nothing wrong with joining L'Epicerie for dinner. This was on father's day - not that we saw many children with their parents - and fully booked. We got to our table at 21:15 and were the last too leave. Food was good, tables a bit close together so we ended up chatting with our American neighbors on one side and... More
