had an evening meal . The food was good but I got the impression that some of it had been prepared beforehand -eg the starter . The wine that was suggested was good as was the service The restaurant was away from the main area and had a nice ambience

A bit shy of the magnificent Amboise castle, on a quiet little street off Place Richelieu, sits L'Alliance, an unassuming little restaurant, a real gem. The outside seating creates the impression you are a guest of the family, which it's true. You are treated as family. We didn't have a reservation but the owner accommodated us right away. He offered... More

Had a good dinner here, it was possible to get a table without a reservation (it was a Tuesday). The chef was able to modify everything on the menu to accommodate a gluten free diet. This is not a formal fine-dining establishment - the service and menu had a coziness about them, and the dishes were more traditional. The place... More

Small menus but each course was packed with flavour, a real find a few minutes walk from the town centre.

Great food, helpful staff, beautiful garden. Very French menu, local foods, fresh vegetables. The escargot appetizer was delicious as was the goat cheese appetizer. Great local wine list.

It is more difficult to I find a bad restaurant than a good one in France so it has to be exceptional to stand out and L'Alliance was just that. Out in search of no more than a steak & frites, we stopped by to read the menu as the restaurant had been recommended by our hotel and was just... More

Party of 4 each with different entries - all terrific. Homemade foie gras best in France; white asparagus; chef sample mushroom froth; fabulous accommodating staff. This is a pleasant diversion from the "touristy" spots.

This restaurant is a little bit off the main dining area, but worth finding. It opened at 6:30, so for hungry foreigners it is a relief to be able to eat before 7:00. When we arrive at 6:30 it was, not surprisingly, empty, but it started to fill soon thereafter. We had good service and good food. We started with... More

The Restaurant L'Alliance is situated in Rue Joyeuse - turn down under the clock tower in the town centre, take the first road on the left and the restaurant is c250m down on the right. We were given a warm welcome and given the choice of outside, conservatory or dining room - all very pleasant. The menu was short, assured... More
