Very nice restaurant! The food was really good and the price correct. The people who served us was very kind and smiling. I would come back to this place!

Perhaps not as trendy as Ma Cusine or Caves Madeline or as illustrious as the Jardin des Remparts but this was a great little find for dinner on a Sunday night in Beaune - excellent foie gras followed by perfectly cooked pigeon and a very decent wine list to boot. Highly recommended.

The restaurant is on the Beaune ring road and as such not readily found by tourists looking at the sights of Beaune. But make the effort, the €22.50 lunch menu is very good value for money and the €30 one offers a good choice. Beaune can be expensive and poor value of money but le Cheval Noir is an exception.... we enjoyed an absolutely delicious meal on the Terrace. Everything from the tomato mousse and vegetable amuse bouche, starters of extraordinary coquilles st Jacques , fresh foie gras. The flavors of each dish were refreshing and balanced. The wines perfect and most important.y the service was delightful. Friendly, professional and the timing of the meal superb. Highly recommend a visit

Beaune is rightly famous for it's medieval roots and the gastronomic experience is very much classical French and Burgundian. The Cheval Noir lies just outside the town ramparts (but within easy walking distance from any part of the old town) and has perhaps more of a modern take on classic French cooking. It is certainly modern in terms of architecture... More

Walked in on spec for lunch with family...we pushed our luck as it was just before 13:30, but after the waitress got the nod from management...everything else was spot on. Went for a set menu, with a child's menu for our 4 yr old. Food was really good, very well presented, tasted great - thoughtfully done. Service was professional but... More

This restaurant came highly recommended to us by our B&B. Located just outside the city walls, it was a good choice for a Saturday night. They start by serving two complimentary sample appetizers that we're both very good. Then there is a long wait before your next course is served. This is France and they want you to relax and... We stopped in this restaurant because the setting looked appealing and the menu had some things we like. We got there right before closing, but they took us despite the late hour. We chose one of the prix fixe menus and it was excellent. Started with snails and ended with profiteroles. The bottle of Cotes de Beaune was at least... More

We have dined at this restaurant on two different vacations. Both times, the food was superb! Everything the chef does is so creative, but delicious. We had an amuse bouche: melon cream soup with bacon, caramel, and bread crumbs. It was absolutely divine. We opted for a dish that was not Burgundian at all: shrimp and scallops on black rice...
