Well worth a visit

Picked this restaurant through a combination of trip-advisor reviews and gut feeling. We were not disappointed. The service was impeccable; not over bearing and all were friendly. Although we are fluent in French, the staff clearly spoke English to a high standard. We both felt the menu offered a... read more

We happened to visit on a very hot day and got a table at the terrasse because inside there was not air-con. This was unfortunate as the terrasse is nothing special and it was very noisy because it is on the town's main peripheral road. We were seating seating. Moreover, we could smell the bad odour from the garbage not... More

What a wonderful way to celebrate and taste true French cuisine. The waiters are attentive and helpful. The food is delicious and decoratively arranged on quirky shaped white plates. The real difference between this place and others is all the complimentary taste sensations that they serve to delight your palate and allow you to experience more of their french delicacies.... Cheval Noir is spacious, bright and modern with sleek minimalist lines. We dined on their pleasant terrace only occasionally bothered by passing scooters. The maître d' was almost a caricature of cuisine snobbery, the waitresses pleasant. We were offered menus in both French and English. The food was excellent. The two separate amuse bouche we were offered were delightful, as... More

We had an enjoyable dinner with a variety of choices for starters and mains, plus a good selection of half bottles

The food is alright. But the service and decor lacks tremendously. There are better places in town. Busy road with ambulances, motorcycles, and trucks making it noisy. There's view of trash actually from the dining tables in the restaurant. Major problem!!

After extensive research for a restaurant in Beaune, we landed upon me Cheval Noir which seemed to be rated positively by fellow Trip Advisors. We were, however, rather disappointed by the meal and overpriced wine. We both took the menu printemps which consisted of tartar de thon, carré d'agneau, fromage nougat and two different desserts. We started off the meal... More

Recommended by our B&B, this restaurant was outstanding. Although the decor is modern and not exactoy our taste, the service, presentation and quality of our meal made up for it. In addition to our prix fix menu, we were served complimentary tiny appetizers, amuse couche soup, and little sweets at the end of the meal. All the food was delicious,... More
