History and a Michelin Lunch

The Abbaye de la Bussiere was recommended to us by friends and did not disappoint. The property is a restored 14th century Abbey on a 10 plus acre park property with a small hotel, Michelin star restaurant and bistro. We went for lunch at the bistro and were delighted. Formal but not stuffy... read more

A midieval abbey has been beautifully restored in an idyllic setting and area. We looked at several of their 20 rooms. Even the most humble room is spacious and elegant. The restaurant has a magnificent terrace and a galleried dining room that is awesome. We had their 3 course luncheon with local wine. Service was efficient and friendly as we're... More

We booked the main restaurant for lunch as the last stop on our weekend trip to Burgundy, so it was our forth Michelin rated restaurant experience. The place itself is simply stunning and definitely worth coming to. The staff was very welcoming and accomodated our request for a faster service since we had limited time before our flight. The food... More

This place is stunning. We got there a little early and walked around and were amazed at how beautiful and unique the property was. Brunch was good, but a few things I would note for anyone else going there. First, they did not explain how the brunch worked with the different courses being placed out at different times. We saw... Made a late booking for Sunday lunch, having heard favorable reviews from our hotel in Dijon. A bit of a trip (40 mins), but got see appreciate some of the French countryside and quaint villages near the hotel. Were warmly greeted by staff, who were extremely professional but managed to not be snobby about it. Seasonal lunch menu was excellent,... More

Rarely have I enjoyed a meal so much. The location is sublime-.12th century monastery, service attentive, knowledgable but unobtrusive and the food sensational. It was a hard place to find at dark and the sat nav played up which made driving back to Beaune difficult. To really enjoy the meal one needs wine to match - sew national wine list... More

From the moment you drive through the gates, through the manicured gatdens you feel you are in a treasured place. The renovation and decor of the old Abbaye is exceptional and the smiling welcome makes you feel like a guest in the traditional sense of the word. The dining experience mirrors the magnificance of the balconied room, the food is... More

We would never have found this place, but we were on a barge trip in Burgundy and our tour guide took us there for dinner. The place is a restored abbey from the 12th century and it is a hotel-retreat-restaurant. We were there only for dinner but would have liked to spend more time. The ambiance and meals were all... The Abbaye itself is a beautiful building which has been lovingly and tastefully restored by it's current owners set in beautiful gardens - lunch is serviced on the terrace, the food and service were excellent beautifully presented, light and fresh on a warm sunny afternoon what more could you ask for.

One of the reasons we travel is to experience something different from what we might find in our own country. Having lunch in an 11th century abbey is a perfect example of this. We were staying near NuitsStGeorge, and drove through the beautiful spring countryside, with fields of wildflowers, through little villages, with very little traffic, so by the time... More
