We would never have found this place, but we were on a barge trip in Burgundy and our tour guide took us there for dinner. The place is a restored abbey from the 12th century and it is a hotel-retreat-restaurant. We were there only for dinner but would have liked to spend more time. The ambiance and meals were all... The Abbaye itself is a beautiful building which has been lovingly and tastefully restored by it's current owners set in beautiful gardens - lunch is serviced on the terrace, the food and service were excellent beautifully presented, light and fresh on a warm sunny afternoon what more could you ask for.

One of the reasons we travel is to experience something different from what we might find in our own country. Having lunch in an 11th century abbey is a perfect example of this. We were staying near NuitsStGeorge, and drove through the beautiful spring countryside, with fields of wildflowers, through little villages, with very little traffic, so by the time... More

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. Given how much we enjoyed every moment of our stay at the Abbaye, and how magnificent the service was, I wanted so much for give the gourmet restaurant 5 stars. My expectations for this restaurant were consistent to what one should expect from a Michelin star establishment. I will... More

Let's start with the location, an old Abbey lovingly restored and the grounds are stunning. The gardens exhibit local flowers, herbs and animals that clearly make their home in the grounds, ducks, geese, foxes and rabbits to name a few. We had a private dining room after champagne out by the lake. The degustation menu was superb with cleverly matched... More

We took Travel Adviser's recommendation and were so very pleased we did. What a lunch - 7 courses. The preparation. presentation, service and atmosphere exceeded our expectation. The abbey and interior cloister were well preserved and cared for. The gardens and property were a delight for strolling after this lunch. From the time we entered the gates to the time... More

We stayed at the beautiful Abbaye de la Bussiere for two nights and because of full days touring the wine country, decided to stay at the hotel for dinners both nights, rather than venture back out for a 30 minute drive into Beaune or another town for dinner. For us, the restaurants were a disappointment. The first night we were... More

An exquisite property tucked away in the Valley of Ouche 20 minutes outside of Beaune. Every attention to detail in the furnishings, rooms and the service. There is a limited menu if you are here when the main restaurant is closed but Otis definitely a unique experience of luxury ant peacefulness!
