Perfection in Burgundy

I first visited this restaurant in 2009 as part of a Rick Steves tour. We were served the €25 multi course meal and it was incredible. My husband and I visited again this year on our own and enjoyed a different tasting menu and enjoyed it equally as enjoyable as 6 years ago. I think that this says... read more

Beautiful setting–striking ambience of an underground vault, with (guess what) arches. The food and service were, however, average. The wines suggested by our waiter matched that level perfectly, though we did say we wished to avoid excessively priced wines. Fifty to seventy euros should buy some good wines, no? Twice our plates were being snatched away before we finished. Appears... More

We "popped in (no reservation)" this wonderful restaurant on the evening of Saturday, July 4, 2015. We inquired about the possibility of getting a table as we noticed they appeared to be at/near capacity. The owner, Michel, asked if we could return in about 45 minutes and that he should then be able to accommodate us...and did he ever. We... More

Unusual restaurant, as mostly underground in the limestone cave, with arches, like an old winery. The food really was wonderful...we were surprised that it did not have a Michelin star.

A friend recommended this place and we dropped in without a reservation. They were very accommodating, squeezing us into their popular restaurant. We had a three course meal from the mid-priced menu. The food was delicious and the wine excellent. If you want to ensure getting a table I recommend booking ahead as this is a deservedly popular venue.

Stopped in this restaurant on a whim last night -- with no reservation. From the owner, Michel, on down, the entire staff treated us with kindness, hospitality, and courtesy. Helped us choose wines, brought us free appetizers while we waited for our table, and took time to make us feel at home. The wine was amazing, as was the fantastic... More

Tables are set in an old wine cellar which makes the experience unique. It was very hot outside the day of our visit so the subterranean experience was perfect! Food was excellent. Service was attentive and charming in both French and English. Wine list was extensive. We left completely satisfied.

Lovely food well served by attentive staff. we were a party of 12, who arrived just on the 1.15 deadline for last orders, and yet we were all served in a very timely fashion. There was no overt pressure to leave when we finished, albeit there were only a couple of other tables still occupied.

Great food and surroundings but far too rushed. My husband and I had the menu 33 euros which was fabulous but we were not able to enjoy and relax between courses as we were straight away served the next dish. 4 courses took one hour twenty mins to complete!

Our family of 5 showed up at opening time knowing that we would be unlikely to get a table at this very popular restaurant in Beaune. The helpful staff cheerfully made up a room to accommodate our party of 5. We had an incredible burgundian meal with excellent service, and great wine for an unbelievably affordable price. We were lucky... More
