In preparation for our trip around France I had taken a copy of a 2010 article from Practical Motorhome entitled Grand Tour Burgundy. When we found ourselves in Auxerre I remembered that the writer, Sarah, had discovered "a fabulous place down a backstreet, called Restaurant le Saint Pelerin" to celebrate her birthday. We sought it out and were delighted to... More

We were recommended this restaurant by the hotel and it lived up too all expectations. The food was excellent and so was the service. We would return again when we return to Auxeere. The food was typically French.

Auxerre was dull and damp that evening until we found this restaurant. France is very quiet this year so we had excellent service, excellent cuisine and a well balanced wine. The potato is a specialty - and it is excellent. Had a really good conversation with the owners - French and English used. Go and enjoy a really good evening!

A good local restaurant. We walked in off the street without a booking and it was full of a mixture of French and tourists. We were looking for a Burgundian meal after a week on the coast and were not disappointed. Snails were good, steak was succulent and crème caramel and tarte aux pommes were up to expectations. The grill... More

A popular place with locals, the restaurant was soon full on a Wednesday evening. We sat where we could watch our food being cooked - one chef, one assistant - and very much enjoyed the result. The service was friendly, but a little haphazard, and little English was understood.Traditional French cuisine at a reasonable price.

We arrived here on a Thursday night and it proved to be a popular choice with at least 20 people dining. However, there was only one waiter who also cooked some of the steaks on the open fire, so consequently the service, though pleasant, was rather slow. There are cartes at 35 26 and 29 euros with reasonable choices for... More

A very good recommendation for travellers new to traditional French cuisine. From entree to dessert, every mouthful is a fascinating experience. Absolutely loved the escargot, steak and black pudding. Lovely and warm atmosphere with the view of the cook preparing fresh food by the fireplace visible from every corner of the dining area. A la carte menu is slightly overpriced... More

After reading the reviews, we reserved a table for dinner. It was a warm June night and it was too hot to eat inside with the wood burning stove, so we had a table on the street which was cooler. The escargot was very good, the salmon was good, the magret of duck was average. Nothing stood out. Prices were... More

Tete de veau, joue de porc, boudin, cheese plate - all tasty and well-presented. Relaxed atmosphere. Not over-priced. Definite recommendation.

Food is freshly cooked and of the region... nothing special but well done... decor is a little tired and could be better.... A good family meal but not for a special occasion... staff very friendly and overall fairly good value for money,
