A Rustic Treat

France seems to have gone "fine dining" in recent years, there is a Michelin star on every corner. A good honest rustic restaurant is a welcome sight. The room is unassuming although the wood burning grill on view as you walk in is an encouragement. The menu was regional with good local dishes... read more

The menu choice was not large, but was a good range. all was perfectly cooked and presented. Lunch times it gets fully booked, so we ate in the evening, and for a rainy May evening it was till reasonably busy. Our 2, three course meals with a bottle of wine and Martini to start was 84€,

The owner has no sense of service or accomodation to his clients and their needs and wishes. We had a reservation but we knew within minutes of arriving that we were not welcome. We were relegated to the back room (behind the kitchen!) where there was virtually no-one - and past many free tables out front. We asked for a... More

This was one place that stands out from the rest on our holiday of river and canal cruising in France :) It Was a meal that we will always remember with open log oven and cooking on a open log fire . I had the pork casserole with the creamy mashed stuffed potato with local cheeses to follow all washed... More

I would highly recommend the Le Saint Pelerin. Great local French menu at reasonable prices - quaint atmosphere with good service.

In preparation for our trip around France I had taken a copy of a 2010 article from Practical Motorhome entitled Grand Tour Burgundy. When we found ourselves in Auxerre I remembered that the writer, Sarah, had discovered "a fabulous place down a backstreet, called Restaurant le Saint Pelerin" to celebrate her birthday. We sought it out and were delighted to... More

We were recommended this restaurant by the hotel and it lived up too all expectations. The food was excellent and so was the service. We would return again when we return to Auxeere. The food was typically French.

Auxerre was dull and damp that evening until we found this restaurant. France is very quiet this year so we had excellent service, excellent cuisine and a well balanced wine. The potato is a specialty - and it is excellent. Had a really good conversation with the owners - French and English used. Go and enjoy a really good evening!

A good local restaurant. We walked in off the street without a booking and it was full of a mixture of French and tourists. We were looking for a Burgundian meal after a week on the coast and were not disappointed. Snails were good, steak was succulent and crème caramel and tarte aux pommes were up to expectations. The grill... More
